Most recent security updates for Windows srew up Serviio..?

Hi,

I run Serviio under Win7. It worked for a long time without a glitch.

Today I installed the most recent security updates for Windows and Serviio is not available anymore on my TV and mobile phone, which means on all my receiving devices.

Is there a connection or should I look somewhere else? If yes, where?

Thansk,
sb

Hi, on two systems win 7 after updates serviio works flawlessly for me. Please try posting the log (generated after an attempt to start serviio) here.

Re: Most recent security updates for Windows srew up Serviio

Somehow it worked again for 4 hours straight. I watched a movie on TV. In the middle Serviio suddenly wasn't available to the TV anymore. I checked in the log but there was no new logging entry. Serviio seems to think that everything is peachy. Should I activate fine grained logging?

Re: Most recent security updates for Windows srew up Serviio

I just tried to connect to my mobile via FTP from my PC where I run Serviio. This worked flawlessly for month now. Now it does not anymore.

Anybody got a clue what is going on here?

You should check your router settings, a restart might help if nothing was changed there. Sounds like a router problem for me or maybe firewall settings got corrupted or reset?

I already checked the router. Also restarted it. It should be fine...but since FTP is not working either it is hard to believe that it is not the Router :(

Re: Most recent security updates for Windows srew up Serviio

omg!

So its not just me then. I just had this exact same problem. I could not figure it out and ended up formatting my pc.
After reinstalling win7 and a few updates it all worked. Then I installed more updates and it stopped working again.

There is a bad windows update killing all DLNA servers. I tried sp3 media server and had the same thing. In the serviio logs, I can see the renderer's IP but it never shows up on the destination.

Hopefully we can narrow down which update it is, I've spent hours and hours on this issue now.

Re: Most recent security updates for Windows srew up Serviio

Seemed to have a similar problem after the recent updates. Seems that Serviio started binding the one of the IP addresses VirtualBox uses for its virtual networking. I changed this via the console and it seems to be working, for the moment at least. It's possible that the cause was one of the recent windows updates as I can't recall any other changes I've made to the machine. However, it isn't the same problem that OP was having as my log clearly stated the VirtualBox IP rather than my LAN one.

Re: Most recent security updates for Windows srew up Serviio

I think my problem is router related. As I mentioned I did several tests by now:

1. FTP: doesn't work anymore either (okay, this could still be Windows)
2. Installed Ubuntu + Serviio. Devices still cannot connect --> must be rooter.

3. Played with the router settings. I seems I was using a channel that was crowded by my neighbors. In the night when most WLANs were off Serviio could connect. During the day all had their WLANs on - Serviio wasn't found by devices.

Now I manually configured the WLAN channel (my router shows which channel is free) and now it works. I hope I solved the problem with this.

Re: Most recent security updates for Windows srew up Serviio

Here you go. net7 is what I want it to bind to. eth8 is what it was actually binding to.

However, worth noting that I just removed the sepecified binding IP from the serviio console and restarted the service and it bound to net7 automatically. It wasn't doing that before and I'm not aware of any changes since.

One more thing, your 44332 port has been flapping from net7 to eth8 while I've been changing things, and it doesn't always bind to the same interface as the rest of serviio.
