Cannot find m4a files

Hi,

I have a lot of m4a files. When building the library Serviio, does not find any of my m4a files - they are not listed in the Serviio log file.

When I run the AV media controller tool, the directories containing m4a files do not show up.

If I rename any of the .m4a files to .mp3, they do show up, and play properly on my client device.

I could rename all the m4a files to mp3 as a workaround, but would prefer not to do this as this may cause some problems/confusion later.

Having read of some earlier problems with "dots" in the filename, I also tried to rename some of the files so they did not contain any extra dots, but this did not help.

If I run ffmpeg on one of the m4a files as an example:

C:\Program Files\Serviio\lib>ffmpeg.exe -i "D:\Media\Music\Music\Metallica\(1983) Kill 'Em All\01. Hit The Lights.m4a"

Re: Cannot find m4a files

Hi. Serviio supports .m4a files, but not Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC) .m4a files.
Using Serviio on Debian "Wheezy" with Xbox 360, Sony BDP-S370 & Panasonic E6.

Re: Cannot find m4a files

Thanks very much for your help guys, I see the issue now.

Since my renderer (an iphone running plugplayer, so no need to transcode) will play the files if I rename them to .mp3, do you think this has a workaround by building a custom profile? Or would the support have to be hardcoded into Serviio?

I will read up on profiles now, but I'm a newbie and would appreciate any opinions on whether such a profile is possible.

Re: Cannot find m4a files

Serviio doesn't recoignize the lossless format yet, so you won't be able to transcode it.
