New User Help

Apologize for having to post ... i searched around and couldn't find anything helpful, so if someone points me to the right thread that's ok. Otherwise, here is my problem ...

I installed serviio on my windows7 laptop. it says it's running and when i add folders to the 'share folders' under library i have my videos, music, and pictures directories. When i go and view with a number of DMP devices i see nothing. each directory is empty. To add to this, if i click on the 'show status' button the Checking for new files: has a red dot.

Why can't i see anything?
