Re: New install error:Please Define EXE4_JAVA_HOME

I think there is a problem with the installer, trying to install 32-bit Java on 64-bit machines. Whoeve is having this problem on 64-bit Windows, can you try to uninstall all your Java and then install one by going here:

http://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enf ... ws-x64.exe

Then try to run Serviio again (probably after restart).

Re: New install error:Please Define EXE4_JAVA_HOME

Hi zip

I downloaded jre-6u20-windows-x64.exe and installed. After a reboot nothing was evident in my environment paths etc. It did however fix the issue. I can now execute the .exe files and not just the .bat.

Cheers

Re: New install error:Please Define EXE4_JAVA_HOME

Just wanted to post that I heard good things about serviio, decided to download and install, and got the same problems mentioned before with Windows 7 64bit. Couldn't even find a working link to download 64bit jre. All links on java.com are for i586 (32bit). Gave up and uninstalled serviio, and I have actually worked with computers the last 10 years. Problem is, I just don't have the energy to troubleshoot stuff on my freetime as well.

Re: New install error:Please Define EXE4_JAVA_HOME

Hi,

I have the same issue, but my problem is I have multiple JRE's on my system. Some applications still need to use 32bit java so I have that installed and I also have 64bit installed. In other applications (i.e. Eclipse IDE), I can set the path to the specific JRE I want it to use.

Is there a way to do this with Serviio?

Re: New install error:Please Define EXE4_JAVA_HOME

You can either use .bat file instead of the service or keep using the exe which (according to my config) should look for java in this order:
1) registry
2) JAVA_HOME env variable
3) JDK_HOME env variable

What's the functionality of the "ServiioConsole.exe.vmoptions" and "ServiioService.exe.vmoptions" file. Is this not the same as the "eclipse.ini" file?

In the eclipse.ini file you can specify something like this:
-vm
D:/apps/Java/jre6u24-x64/bin/javaw.exe

it may include jvm parameters, not the actual jvm location

Re: New install error:Please Define EXE4_JAVA_HOME

The solution to this is simple (and applies only to 64 bit Windows 7). Thanks to this page for the tip on solving this.

You need 32 and 64 bit JRE:

1. Using a 32 bit browser (currently all except IE9 64bit), download and install Java: http://www.java.com/en/download/ The page will automatically detect the 32 bit browser (but not the 64 bit operating system) and give you the 32 bit package.

2. In the same browser, after java install, check that you have Java: http://www.java.com/en/download/install ... =jre&try=1

3. Using a 64 bit browser (IE9 64 bit only: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/inte ... wnloads/ie ), visit the manual download page: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp The page will automatically detect the 64 bit browser and give you the 64 bit package.

4. In the same browser, after 64 bit java install, check that you have Java: http://www.java.com/en/download/install ... =jre&try=1

5. Check your control panel. In "Programs", you will see Java at the bottom. If the icon title reads "Java (32 bit)" the you didn't complete the 64 bit install correctly. If it reads just "Java", you are good to go.

6. UNINSTALL Serviio (it will not have worked correctly the first time - you will know this is the case when you start the console the first time and it asks you to update).

7. Re-install serviio.

8. Enjoy streaming your media.

Re: New install error:Please Define EXE4_JAVA_HOME

Hello and thank you for Serviio. I have 0.5.1 installed and want to upgrade to 0.5.2 but when I try to run the installer I get this error
NSIS error
Installer integrity check has failed. Common causes include incomplete download and damaged media. Contact the installers author to obtain a new copy.

I've tried re-downloading three times and removing then reinstalling Java 64 bit but no go. 0.5.1 installed no problem. Any ideas? I think Serviio is far superior to any other I've tried and want to continue using it.

Re: New install error:Please Define EXE4_JAVA_HOME

<whine>

This is getting really, really annoying. Random Java updates come out and kill Serviio, and it takes several hours of messing around to get it working again - and each time it's unclear what step makes it function again...

I have 64-bit Win 7, and both 32-bit and 64-bit JRE's. But it also breaks on Windows Server 2012 Essentials.

Yes, I've set the environment variables and even put them in the batch files. Yes I've uninstalled and re-installed both 32-bit and 64-bit JRE's. Yes I've rebooted multiple times.

Serviio is the only Java app that's breaking. :(

Re: New install error:Please Define EXE4_JAVA_HOME

I asked the EXE4j support and this is their reply:

please ask a customer to start the executable from the command line with the argument

/create-i4j-log

and send me the log file.

Try that if you're still having the issue.

Re: New install error:Please Define EXE4_JAVA_HOME

I received this error too. it happened after a java update. I am running java 8 update 25 on a Windows PC running Windows 8.1 64bit so naturally have both 32 and 64 bit java versions.

Serviio seems to be running when viewing the console and the services. It shows my TV and Bluray player but neither the TV nor the Bluray (both Sony) show Serviio as running.

I added the environment variable to the path C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_25 in system variables
Also added a user variable where Variable Name EXE4J_JAVA_HOME Variable Value C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_25

I have tried uninstalling java completly and reinstalling using offline versions but this made no difference.

Serviio version is 1.4.1.2
Can anyone offer any further suggestions?

Re: New install error:Please Define EXE4_JAVA_HOME

Looks like every java update causes problems.
Cant get Serviio running with java 8 update 25 so its bye bye serviio, too much hassle to try and fix this repeatedly.

Re: New install error:Please Define EXE4_JAVA_HOME

1.5 will be bundled with its own Java runtime, so it won't be affected by the system Java updates
