Serviio on WHS windows home server 2011 on HPN54L

Hi New on the forum

I have a HP N54L running WHS 2011. Serviio works on server itself but cant see (edit as a source) on Sony Bravia TV or even Samsung TV (edit which) I am using also as monitor for mini server.

Serviio disconnects or doesnt show sometimes. Yet internet and thus network works fine. Serviio on pc with windows xp gives no problems.

Sometimes a restart works and other times not.

Thanks

While I have WHS 2011 running here, I don't use it as my media server. As a test though, I just installed it to see if there any issues. It's early of course, but so far it is showing just fine on my Sony BD player. I'll look at my other devices to see if there's an issue, but I have a hunch there's going to be a networking or firewall issue for your setup.

Re: Serviio on WHS windows home server 2011 on HPN54L

OK, tested all three types of players I have: TV, Blu-Ray Player and Roku. All three see the server and will play whatever I select. Also note that this is a complete default Serviio installation, I didn't install Java beforehand, or make any tweaks to either the server or Serviio after installation.

Serviio saves logs by default, so it's already there. For a Windows installation, you will find the log at C:\Program Files\Serviio\log. After the log reaches a certain size, it renames the last log and starts a new one. The latest one will always be named "Serviio.log". It's just a text file, so you can look at it with Notepad.

Ok thanks. Will check log and upload it. I can see serviio but it just disappears sometimes and then an restart serviio usually solves it. Hasnt done it this time but will reinstall.

Good deal. I'm away from home right now, so I can't tell if there's any issue since I tried it on my WHS machine. Sounds like there was just some hiccup during the install the first time.

Logged in via win 10 pc. Remote downloaded onto hpn54l whs 2012 (edit 2011) server and serviio 1.5.2 installed smoothly onto the whs 2011 server.
Will check tomorrow whether its actually working or not.
Update - working perfectly with whs 2011 serviio add in.
