Re: Compatible devices list

Another user of a Samsung BD-C5500 here - after finding that PC Share Manager would not install on my HTPC which runs Win2k and TVersity didn't work for my device. (I just happened to find them first when searching for alternative DLNA software)

So far no problems and the player plays almost anything I throw at it, even OTA HD broadcast if I change the file name extension from .tp/.ts to .mpg. (need to explore the transcoding option for this)

I got a brandnew Yamaha BD-S1067 universal player, it is DIVX-Plus certified. Streaming my MP4s to it is no Problem, but MKVs do not show up. Which profile should I use?

We could help you to provide a custom profile, but first : viewtopic.php?f=5&t=19
For unrecognized video file (mkv) : viewtopic.php?f=5&t=38

Re: Compatible devices list

Hi all!
Samsung PC Share Manager disappointed me (too long, bugs etc). That's why I was looking for a new DLNA software which was able to connect by Samsung BD-C5500 player with my PC.
I found the SERViiO software while browsing on Internet forum.
I have just install it yesterday and it just works!
Now my BD player can read my collection.
Great software!

Alex.

Re: Compatible devices list

Sony KDL-40EX405, Software version: PKG4.088BRL.

It detects Serviio and plays most movies fine, but I still have some doubts.

1) Subtitles ?!?!?!? How to I set them on? It must work somehow because I tried Wild Media Server and they showed up just fine (then, my trial period expired)
2) DVD titles ! I added quite a few folders with all my DVD's rips and only some of them are showing. Wasn't it supposed to open DVD menu? Or will it just play all the vob files one by one as if it was a playlist? In this case, is it possible to enable subtitles in the dvd structure?
3) FastFoward and Rewind work a loooot better than WMS, but it's still quite laggy and sometimes it freezes. Maybe you guys could have a look at it? Or is it a DLNA limitation?
4) Would it be difficult to implement a http version to access the console remotely via the internet? Or maybe it does it already and i'm missing the point ...
5) I managed to add 3 folders to be served, but when i click rescan the console does nothing and some of my folders/files won't be displayed. Is there any other action needed to make Serviio scan these files? Or is it a format issue?

That's all for now. BTW, I am a database programmer myself not experienced at all with media programming, but if i could be of any help in any way, it would be a pleasure. If you need further details/specs/tests with this model of TV, just let me know.

Thanks.

Re: Compatible devices list

1) Subtitles ?!?!?!? How to I set them on? It must work somehow because I tried Wild Media Server and they showed up just fine (then, my trial period expired)

Sony doesn't support external subtitles via DLNA, only baked into the stream, which Serviio doesn't do.

2) DVD titles ! I added quite a few folders with all my DVD's rips and only some of them are showing. Wasn't it supposed to open DVD menu? Or will it just play all the vob files one by one as if it was a playlist? In this case, is it possible to enable subtitles in the dvd structure?

DLNA just serves files, so it'll serve VOBs 1 by 1, unless you use some tool to merge them all together (search the forum). No subs, as above.

4) Would it be difficult to implement a http version to access the console remotely via the internet? Or maybe it does it already and i'm missing the point ...

Not with internet. You could use the console remotely.

5) I managed to add 3 folders to be served, but when i click rescan the console does nothing and some of my folders/files won't be displayed. Is there any other action needed to make Serviio scan these files? Or is it a format issue?

Check serviio.log for a list of added files.

If you have further questions, start a new topic.

Re: LOGITECH REVUE(GOOGLE TV)

SERVIIO WORK FANTASTIC WITH MY LOGITECH REVUE (GOOGLE TV).SMOOTH FAST AND BEAUTIFUL WITH NO HANGUPS. IT IS BETTER THAN WMP-TVERSITY-AND TWONKY. HOWEVER SINCE THE REVUE IS JUST A GENERIC DLNA DEVICE WITHOUT PROFILE SUPPORT, IT IS NOT OPEN TO TRANSCODING AND WILL ONLY PLAY CODECS IT SUPPORTS.

Re: Compatible devices list

Ok, so no subtitles for Sony, that's a bummer :(

As for the folders I added, they just took some time to appear on the TV menu. I guess the scans take a while to be processed.

Everything else seems to be working fine, no choppy audio/video as I used to have with some files through WMS or PlayOn and that is a plus.

Re: Compatible devices list

Samsung UE32C5000 working pretty good so far. I have found only one mkv file which did not played on any of the server tested, including Serviio. I have now only two servers installed, the Samsung PC Share manager that I keep as a reference and the Servio which is the default media server for my apartment network.
Great job Serviio developers

Re: Compatible devices list

Serviio is now working fine with my Sony Blu-Ray BDP-BX57 purchased at Costco. This is I believe the BDP-S570 in normal retail outlets like Best Buy, et al. Serviio is running on a Core2 Duo machine under Ubuntu 10.4 LTS 'Lucid' with Sun Java6. I have yet to daemonize the service, but will do so shortly.

I say "now working fine" because out of the box and with the 'Blue-Ray Player' profile selected, the Sony unit failed to see my extensive .avi (xvid) file collection, posting only 'no playable files' when I browsed into the local folder. A look into the config.xlm file at the profiles showed divx as the primary output of this profile. Unfortunately this blu-ray model does not support that encoding. A look at the fine print in the Sony User Guide also reveals that this model supports only MPEG2 streams over wireless/network connections. Noticing that the 'Bravia TV' profile output a MPEG2_TP stream, I selected that in the Serviio GUI pull-down and bounced both the server and the Sony player. Voila, I could both see and play my .avi collection with no further problems.

I have yet to try playing audio from my mingled mp3 ogg and flac collection. Stay tuned...

Re: Compatible devices list

New owner of WDTV LivePlus and Sony BDP-BX57. Having issues with video picture size, mainly height is reduced when streaming Anamorphic dvd vobs to WDTV. While the same stream from serviio to Sony gets correctly sized. Do I need a special profile in serviio for wdtv that could fix the size issue?

thanks,
Diwrosh

I assume you're using Generic profile for that, it means there is not transcoding going on and the file is streamed as-is. It'd be the player's problem then.

Re: Compatible devices list

I'd like to say thank you for this piece of software.

I'm currently testing it running on a PPC Mac Mini with Ubuntu and it is able to handle reasonably well files that require transcoding in Standard Definition.
HD content streams well if not transcoded.

Thanx as well for the profile defining the Viera TV.

TV is a Tx-P42G20

Best regards.
