Compatible: Sony KD-49XD8005 and KD-55X8505C, Libratone New Zipp
NOT compatible: Libratone New Zipp Mini

But both Libratones should work well, they are using the same codecs! But the Mini says "Source not found Code 716" with BubbleUPNP as used app. :? So I cannot use them as multi room renderers. If I'm using another DLNA server, Media Go e. g., everything works fine! So there must be an issue with Serviio.

Not dead at all, but most of us don't like to respond with an I don't know. It doesn't help anything, and you need someone with knowledge in a specific area. I have no idea what a Libratone is.

Well, this is an issue where I can help :!:

Libratone is a Danish brand of wireless DLNA certified audio speaker systems. They are really *very* compatible with any systems and protocols. One of their slogans: "if you can stream it, the ZIPP and ZIPP MINI can play it via WiFi or Bluetooth". This is why I'm rather frustrated because the smaller one of them does not stream contents from Serviio although it has the identical firmware as the bigger model - which does very well with Serviio.

Phillips SmartTV works fine. Also HEOS works although there is a slow detection rate and this is the subject of another post.

Happy to report that Serviio works beautifully with my Yamaha WXAD-10 wireless streaming adapter and plays all my music formats I could throw at it: mp3, FLAC, WAV, AAC, ALAC in 16/24 bit up to 96kHz. I changed to Serviio because Plex would not play back ALAC files.
Well done guys! :)

I use five different Roku throughout my house for five different television sets. The Serviio and the streaming application available through Roku work well. One issue: no fast forward or rewind for streaming video. Bummer! Other than this though, I really love being able to stream my saved TV programs to any TV in the house. The Roku streaming utility and Serviio work well together. I also have access to photos and audio files, though I do not make use of this as much.

Roku cannot do trick play with transcoded files, unless they are applehttp format. We aren't using that format at this time because it doesn't support multi-channel ac3 audio. By default, Serviio assigns the most restrictive Roku profile, since the players themselves don't identify themselves accurately via DLNA. If you have a Roku released within the last couple of years, select one of the other Roku profiles. Note that if your video is encoded with MPEG2, the only Roku devices that can play them without transcoding are the Roku TVs. But if your video uses MP4 or H264 video, and you don't have Dolby TrueHD audio, you should be able to play the video without transcoding. If you are not using an AVR for your audio, then DTS Master Audio will also require transcoding.

Send me a PM if you have any specific questions about the various Roku players that aren't necessary to be discussed here in the forum.

thanks very much for helping
yes all 100% h.264 mpeg4 .
Yes HDMI end to end, and Ethernet wired. (edit Yamaha) AVR , Rx,v375 + LG-- LM55-6400
i can not find the link in serviio for roku profiles, im looking now , nothing and newest serviio, I force loaded nightly build FFmpeg.exe 91991 in to serviio/ lib and subtitle work on serviio for the first time ever.
where is this? " Roku 1080 Media Player (2016+)"
I have transcoding turned off, so FF can work. as most everyone says to do.

and the last line you talked about all HD audio.

my MKV has 2 audio channels
both AC3 (H.264)
5.1 DD
2 channel DD
do those force trans-coding? both?

multichannel, AAC means , 2channels up or 5 channels up.
are you saying only 2channel auto works with FF? or just DD version of 2 channel>?
one of my tests, if I delete subtitles in the mkv file container, FF works instantly.

is there a best form of 5.1 channel audio that works with FF?
my base mkv is aac (avcodec) Dolby pro logic II, and then Hand brake it to 2 channel AC3 or AC3 5.1 mixdown, 5.1 channels.
but ff fails.
only 2channel lets me FF
I need to learn the 5.1 rules even simple 5.1 channel no dolby , no surround. and can this avoid transcoding... learning fast thanks to you. cheers. Ill do more testing tomorrow.

NOT compatible: Philips 55POS9002

OK: mkv HD works only with (Panasonic Viera 2013) profile.
NOT OK: mkv 4K works somehow with huge problems and only with (Samsung TV / player (J-series) profile. Sound is cutting, picture hangs. Overall impossible to watch. Not working.
PROBLEM: No profile where both HD and 4K will work together. Need to switch all the time between profiles. 4K videos problematic.

server: synology DS718+

I know we're working in the other thread, but wanted to point out that specifying MKV doesn't mean much. MKV is a container, and it can have a wide combination of video and audio codecs within that container. It's far more important to identify the codecs involved.

I have it running on a MacBook Air mid 2012 (but looking to move it to a QNAP TS-230) and connecting from an LG TV (43UH650V) with the default DLNA client.

So far, so good, need to dive into the renderer profiles for better resolution.

Sony blu-rays BDP-S5100 and S6700 work best using bdp2013 profile. They don't handle h265/hevc video or eac3 audio natively but with transcoding the s5100 is fine and the s6700 still needs some tweaking because Sony seems to have bungled the DLNA implementation in the newer device. The s6700 won't support an online stream (from an internet sports feed through VLC outputting an http stream to Serviio) that the S5100 supports, still haven't gotten that working.

Also Vizio e601ia3 works with a user-profiles extending profileid "1" by force re-encoding everything to container=mpeg, vcodec=mpeg2video, acodec=ac3. It's "supposed" to support a lot more formats but after conversations with their tech support team, Vizio (at least of this vintage) is even weaker with DLNA so I had to bring out the big hammer. Also won't support the http stream described above no matter what transcoding I use.

point being "DLNA" support varies dramatically and doesn't always match the device guide and it's rare to find somebody you can talk to that even knows what DLNA is.

I was looking for a DLNA player who supports my old but beloved ROKU Soundbridge M2000 - this famous Tube build in 2003 which is only for music streaming, and it works great! Thank you very much!!!
