Dual Profiles

Postby shadybrothers » Fri Jul 30, 2010 2:45 am

Hi Guys, I have been using serviio religiously with my Samsung LA46B650 for months now with no complaints - I have moved my PS3 to another room and it is now hooked up to a non DLNA Samsung.

I have successfully had it streaming from my WHS box that has seviio running using the PS3 profile. While I have the PS3 profile active, the B650 is unable to stream, I believe that this is due to the profile incompatibilities.

I was wandering if it was possible to create a profile with both the Samsung B Series + PS3 characteristics so that both devices are able to take advantage of streaming media.

Cheers,

Excellent news, I look forward to future updates.

In the mean time, has anyone been able to serve to 2x Samsung TV's at the same time using the one console?

I am serving successfuly to 3 devices using the "Samsung WiselinkPro (C series)" profile:
A Samsung TV 46C650 and 2 WD TV Live HD players
with no problem as both devices support more or less same video formats.

all 3 at the same time? Serviio should cope, how does the network cope though? ;-)

Nice one - when the PS3 loads up with the B Series profile selected all *.mkv files are unsupported data.

I have installed PS3MS on my WHS box to run alongside Serviio and have both the TV and PS3 streaming *mkv files.

Serviio does handle better than the PS3MS - their transcoding has a few stuttering issues or corrupted sound files.

That's expected, as the Samsung cannot be detected automatically ATM - so it'll use generic profile instead. I hope to sort this out soon-ish.

Just for my understadning.

I have a Sony BDP-s570 BR Player and an xbox 360.
If I have Serviio configured to use the custom sony profile I created, then the Xbox will by default also attempt to use that profile?

Yes, unless you select Auto detection (which should work for your devices).
