Which format for optimal playback? (Bravia)
I just got a new Bravia and Serviio is working great with my mp4 and my mkv files. There doesn't seem so be much real transcoding going on, just remuxing.
Question 1:
I'd like to know more about DLNA formats such as AVC_TS_MP_HD_AC3, AVC_TS_HD_50_AC3_T, etc. I know there are hundreds of combinations. Where can I learn how to decode these strings and learn more? What's the difference between AVC_TS_HD_50_AC3_T and AVC_TS_HD_60_AC3 for example? Is that h264 level 5.0 and... 6.0 what ever that is?
Question 2:
When encoding my DVDs and BluRays, what settings should I choose for best playback? I know this is a huge question and device specific but where so I start? I was targeting AppleTV with increased quality (constant = RF19.25) before but now I'm thinking of re-encode with my Bravia as target, either the BluRay player or the TV itself. This means I need an AC3 audio stream and an AVC/h264 stream but what kind of limits does the Bravia have? Can I glean that from the GetProtocolInfo format strings (see Question 1)?
Cheers and big thanks!
