Xbox360 help

I need a little help. I have a PS3 and Xbox360. My goal is to have a video that plays on both devices WITH surround sound 5.1 and preferably able to fast forward/rewind.

I originally had my files with avi with xvid/mp3. Worked on both, but no 5.1

I tried mkv with h264/aac 5.1 and it appears to work but unable to fast forward/rewind

Read some posts that say to use mp4 container. Tried that with h264/aac 5.1 and it all works in ps3 but xbox360 can't read file.

My question is, is there a container with video and audio combo that works on both devices matching my criteria. If not, can I set it so the Ps3 (primary) will play and then the Xbox transcoded as needed to play if I decide to use that device?

If my only option is transcoding for Xbox, how do I accomplish that?

Thanks

Re: Xbox360 help

According to this only AVI (and asf) supports 5.1 : http://blogs.msdn.com/b/xboxteam/archiv ... k-faq.aspx

You can't transcode to avi on-the-fly though, and FFmpeg doesn't have WMA Pro encoder. But you can try to do it manually and see if it plays with 5.1 DD.

Re: Xbox360 help

Need a little help in getting the transcode to work properly.

Files with this work without issue on the XBOX360...
Stream #0.0(eng): Video: h264, yuv420p, 624x480 [PAR 1:1 DAR 13:10], 359 kb/s, 23.98 fps, 23.98 tbr, 2997 tbn, 47.95 tbc
Stream #0.1(eng): Audio: aac, 44100 Hz, stereo, s16, 151 kb/s

Files like this, are requiring to be transcoded in order to work...
Stream #0.0(und): Video: h264, yuv420p, 800x336, 2597 kb/s, 23.98 fps, 23.98 tbr, 24k tbn, 47.95 tbc
Stream #0.1(und): Audio: aac, 48000 Hz, 5.1, s16, 446 kb/s

So far I have this in my configuration, however its transcoding all h264/aac files
<Matches container="mp4" vCodec="h264" aCodec="aac" />

How do I adjust this "Matches" so that it only transcodes those files that are "5.1"?

thanks

Ok, thanks. Is that something that can be requested for a future update? Just the ability to get even more specific in the matching.
