Subtitles in mkv

Hello,

I can't get burin in subtile to show on any mkv container file with anime content.
I'm transcoding over computer to xbox360, but not subtiles on MediaBrowser to.

Same problem is on my lg tv over usb port player.

On computer, or on plex over xbox360 burn-in subtitles are shown.

Help please?

Re: Subtitles in mkv

Language code in console is English, and subtitles are english.

After few hours of testing I gave up, and decide to use only mp4 files (or learn Japanese). mp4 are much less available, but work perfect with serviio and other server with xbox360 on 720p files.

I think subtitles is missing because there is not option to force subtitle - like in other server; and xbox360 video player can't change it?

Other server with old version, have problems with mkv files and subtitles with xbox360: Depending of bandwidth not sure exactly where 2-4mbs it will crash on heavy load.
With new version doesn't work at all with xbox360.

LG tv have secured firmware so no go to repack it too.

Re: Subtitles in mkv

What kind of subtitles?

If I rip a Blu-Ray disc to MKV, the captions remain in PGS format. If I play these videos through my Blu-Ray player, the captions are recognized but not displayed. If I rip the same video into the M2TS container, the same captions are now displayed. My guess is that the BD player recognizes the M2TS container as a BD disc, while the MKV container is considered something else and won't engage the correct processing mode.

Now if they're VOBSUB captions, then they should be working. Please provide the video information using either MediaInfo (Windows program) or FFMPEG (command line ffmpeg -i file_name)

Re: Subtitles in mkv

You need to set the language code, as appears in the output of ffmpeg -i. As per web instructions.

It might be eng or en

Re: Subtitles in mkv

Subtitles is working now.

Set preferred language of subtitles in Serviio console to: en, eng.
I didn't understand you first post and tried to change lanuage and location in (Game) console :D (And there was big problem to find parent code in console)

Thank you very much for you help :)

About LG tv usb player, afterextracting subtitles with mkvtool, then export to aas it can play it.
