avoiding transcoding by reencoding files for Sony BDPS370
Suppose I want to reencode a video file to an ideal format for serviio to serve to an EU Sony BDP S370:
I e:
there will be no reason for serviio to transcode the file on the fly
The resulting stream will play back on the BDP370 with the maximum quality and versatility possible.
The resulting file can be put on a data DVD and played back on the BDP370 directly with results that are as close to optimum as currently possible
How should I reencode a video file to achieve that?
What would be the ideal vcodec, acodec and file format to use as a target?
I'm guessing (yes. This is a bewilderingly complex subject.) that an ideal container format would be mpegts and the file extension would then be m2ts, and the ideal vcodec should be mpeg2video.
Is this the right choice?
For the acodec I'm in the dark.

Serviio 2.3 in a jail on TrueNAS 13 running on an HP N54L w 5*4 TB spinning rust disks.
The media files are on the same machine.
