Fast forwarding transcoded file

Since Oppo could not playback wma(Pro) audio, I added a audio transcoding section in the Generic profile.

It worked, but fastward function became crippled

Without audio transcoding, I could only see the video, but no sound. All the 5 Fastforward speeds worked beautifully.

With audio transcoding, I got video and sound, but only the 2 lowest Fastward speeds were available.

To rule out I wasn't fastforwarding beyond the transcoded time, I waited 5 minutes and made sure the transcoded file had been completed in the transcoded folder. Still only the 2 lowest fastward speeds were available.

Copy the transcoded file to another folder and renamed the extension to .ts, all the 5 fastward speeds were available.

Why is it the case? Can this be solved?

Re: Fast forwarding transcoded file

not sure what's the inner implementation of wdtv, but serviio uses byte based seek for non-transcoded files and time-based seek for transcoded. So there is a difference and possibly they implement one better than the other.

Re: Fast forwarding transcoded file

Hi Petr,

I added the transcoded folder into the library, hoping my devices could see the trancoded files in the library (without renaming the extension). But no luck so far.

If this could be done, I could playback transcoded files as "ordinary files" and have better fast forward control.

Can the Profile file be modified to enable devices to see transcoded files as "ordinary" files in the library?

Re: Fast forwarding transcoded file

no, you'd have to give it a supported extension, eg .mpg

Re: Fast forwarding transcoded file

Could you share the code used to add wma transcoding to the generic profile? thanks.
