Why not use latest ffmpeg ?

Hi,

Why don't you distribute the latest ffmpeg with Serviio?. Has this do to with compatibility / testing ?

Is it possible to update the ffmpeg to the latest version like is suggested somewhere in this forum ?

Regards,

Hen

yes, compatibility. My distribution also includes a patch to enable MKV remuxing. Some people use the latest FFmpeg, you can give it a try if you have problems with the current distributed version.

Re: Why not use latest ffmpeg ?

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I am not yet using serviio, but my new tv is being shipped right now, so it won't be long before I will.

I just looked in to some things and read on the internet that FFmpeg 23143 now has an option to utilise GPU for transcoding. It would be a shame not to use the GPU if we could :)...
