Service won't start

I just installed Serviio, but when running the console I see: Cannot connect to the server, it doesn't seem to be running...
Reading through the forum, checked if the service is running. It's not. When trying to run it, it says it cannot start the service and gives an error 5000 (unclear what that is)
Also removed and reinstalled Java then reinstalled Serviio. Still same result.
As a side-note: Using ZoneAlarm as my FW. Disabled this during installation. Disabling it when trying to run Serviio also did not work.

I know (when it workes) Serviio is a great tool and would love to get it to run again on my new pc.
Windows 10 Home - 64 bit (dutch)

Attached ar the 2 log files I found in the Serviio\log folder

Hope anyone can help?

Re: Service won't start

There's no errors in that log. It shows a normal startup. Java does not need to be installed, as Serviio installs a version for itself.

That log is fairly small, and doesn't appear to show a shutdown. It does show it recognizing an AVR-X2200W, which I assume is your Denon receiver. Like I said, it appears to be running correctly.

What happens if you use your browser to connect to the console (http://localhost:23423/console)? I am wondering if you are trying to use a console from an older version (before version 1.6)? That console no longer works, as it has been switched to a web based console.

Re: Service won't start

When I goto http://localhost:23423/console, I get a "Page cannot be displayed"
I also noticed indeed that my Denon receiver was detected in the log, so I also thougt it was working. But as mentioned; the console refuses :( As does the service when I check this via Windows services and it's not to be seen from any other system.

As for your question about using an older version of the console; I think this is unlikely? It's a new/clean pc and have downloaded the latests version from Serviio from the website and installed that.
(Unless Serviio by mistake added an old console to the latest version? Doubt that ;))

What I did notice: When starting the console (that gives me the " Cannot connect to the server, it doesn't seem to be running..."), it does not say Serviio at top, but Electon or something?

Re: Service won't start

Try to open the console on your PC's IP address rather than localhost:

http://192.168.0.15:23423/console

It gives the same result as going to localhost I'm afraid....

Re: Service won't start

Is this the correct IP address to use on your PC?

  Code:
wlan1 (802.11n USB Wireless LAN Card) and address 192.168.0.15

Re: Service won't start

That's indeed the local ip where Serviio is installed / should be running on.
It's a fixed ip as are other equipment that have their own fixed ip (same subnet etc...)

Re: Service won't start

Enabled the detailed log as described on http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=detail_logging
Restarted the pc.
Same result; Service won't start. Console won't start. Trying http://192.168.0.15:23423/console still same result, etc...

Looked at the log-folder having the detailed log enabled and I noticed that both log-files were unchanged. Nothing added/changed... (made a copy before and compared them).
Thought le't go crazy and deleted the log-files. Reinstalled Serviio (still same results after) and saw that only 1 log-file "serviio.log" was created.
It had now only 1 line in it:
2016-04-22 23:11:23,054 DEBUG [ApplicationInstanceManager] Listening for application instances on socket 44331

(Disabled virusscan + firewall during all this to be sure that had no negative effect)

Re: Service won't start

hmmm.... Tried the following:

in \Serviio\bin\ started serviio.bat + serviioservice.exe as administrator. Then in Serviio\console\ started ServiioConsole.exe as admin.

Yes! The console now shows.
However, this I would have to do every time to get the console running. Not very handy (as of cos I want to have it run automatically at startup).

Now there's also more in the logfiles (added them as xxxx2.log) while Debugging is still on.

Think you can see more of what might be going on?
Sure hope you can help further :)

Re: Service won't start

Don't see anything new, but it's still not detailed log.

Also, you don't need to start serviio.bat - it's the same as the service .exe.

you can check if the Serviio service is started and running in the Windows Services tool.

Re: Service won't start

I did enable the detailed log as described.
The service is not running and also refuses to start as mentioned in my earlier post (something with a 5000 error?)

Re: Service won't start

Hmm ok. so it looks like it crashes / gets stuck when it tries to figure out if another Serviio instance is already running. Looks like something to do with networking (trying to open a localhost socket 44331), but I've no idea what it could be preventing it on your PC.

Re: Service won't start

Me neither I'm afraid....
I'll look some further to see if I can find anything, but if not.... I'm afraid Serviio is no longer an option for me anymore if you or anyone else also are not able to assist on this issue :(
(Really would be a bummer, as I loved the simplicity and power of Serviio)

looked a little further;

In the logging I see:
Service Serviio stopped with the following service error:

Re: Service won't start

I already tried that without success.
But.... Decided to remove Serviio and Java and (only) reinstall Serviio again. This time not on my D-drive but on the C-drive.
It works!.... Almost....
Finally the console starts up, the service can be started.

However:
- The service does not seem to start automatically, even when it's set to Automatic
- When I start the service, I then have to stop and start the server in the console, before the TV sees Serviio
- When I quit the console, so does the connection to Serviio again? (Meaning, the TV then does not see Serviio anymore). Not a big deal but I cannot minimize it to the system-tray, so it's off my taskbar.

Any suggestions on the above?

Thanks so much so far for your help and patience and devotion, willing to help me :)

Re: Service won't start

I'm afraid I was to happy to soon :(
It worked for a few times with my tv, now nothing... Service is running (can also restart it) and console is working.
Tried restarting my pc, restarting the service, stop/start the Serviio server, but Serviio is no longer seen.
Added the logs again. Hopefully we're able to discover more this time?
