Re: [Readme] Sony Bravia 2015

Hi gents

Did anyone build a profile for the Sony Bravia 2015?
I own a KD-55X8505C | KD-55X8509C | KD-55X8508C (same models with different designs and maybe output Hz).
Could anyone help to build one?
This TV can do 4K/UHD HEVC and inbuild-play mkv...
Profile for Sony 2011 or 2013 does work for most parts... not sure if Serviio still does needless transcode to the TV.

Pretty sure that those profiles should be improved for MKV and 4K/UHD/HEVC....

Cheers,

Re: [Readme] Sony Bravia 2015

U.S. versions drop the 5 from the 5c at the end.

Using the 2013/14 profile I find the presentation comes up strange.
If on the TV I pull up Video, I see the same folders 3 times. Apparently one for video files, one audio and one pictures.

Btw, in addition to UHD, the 8xxc and 9xxc models also support HDR. I haven't tried to push any of that through Serviio yet.

Edit: UHD in AVC and HEVC do not work, neither does HDR. I guess it's USB stick for those for now.

Re: [Readme] Sony Bravia 2015

at this time is use the following profile for my KD55X8505C

<Profile id="sony2015" name="Sony Bravia TV (2015/16)" extendsProfileId="1">
<Transcoding>
<Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="h264" targetACodec="ac3" aBitrate="1536">
<Matches container="*" aCodec="dts-hd" />
<Matches container="*" aCodec="truehd" />
</Video>
</Transcoding>
<HardSubsTranscoding>
<Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" targetACodec="ac3" DAR="16:9" />
</HardSubsTranscoding>
<LimitImageResolution>false</LimitImageResolution>
</Profile>

i have a professional 4K Test mp4 file with aac Audio that cannot transcode for the tv. but the tv can play this file from usb without any problems. its an mp4 file with h264 profile 5.2 and aac audio

Re: [Readme] Sony Bravia 2015

I'm trying to tweak the profile and realize I really don't know what I'm doing.

I have found that my XBR-75X850C will receive H265 without re-encoding if in a Matroska container. (Not a blip on my CPU utilization anyway.)
In fact I remuxed a UHD HDR demo to MKV and Serviio passed it just fine.

The problem I'm trying to fix is if the H265 is in MP4, I get an error that it is an unsupported format.
I don't know if the problem is the container or that Matroska calls the codec ID V_MPEGH/ISO/HEVC while MP4 calls it 'hvc1' or 'hev1'.

Any ideas how to fix make it work?

Re: [Readme] Sony Bravia 2015

I'm sorry, is that meant to be an answer?

I can take the MP4 HEVC video and play it via USB stick in the TV's Video app. The same app that plays DLNA.
With Serviio serving MP4 says "Unsupported Format", remuxed to MKV it plays (without re-encoding).

It sounds like Serviio isn't properly handling the file. I'd like to know how to fix the out of date profile since I find the language confusing.

Re: [Readme] Sony Bravia 2015

I don't think you can as yet. Its a limitation of DLNA, not Serviio ... but one that will be overcome....

The problem: DLNA has a number of media formats it supports through the use of DLNA profiles - HEVC isnt on that list. Nor is Matroska (MKV files) - so in order to overcome this Serviio constructs a "fake" DLNA profile for MKV files that just stream the whole file as is - this is why your HEVC videos in an MKV file work.

The solution: the plan is to create fake DLNA profiles for HEVC in other container types. A ticket exists for this - see https://bitbucket.org/xnejp03/serviio/i ... 5-in-other, scheduled at this stage for the next release. Until then, you could simply remux the file to an MKV container (see my WinHelper tool or you can use ffmpeg).

Re: [Readme] Sony Bravia 2015

Thank you. That's the first reasonable answer I've heard.
I'm assuming that will probably appear as a newer Sony 2015/6 profile. I'll watch the ticket.

Re: [Readme] Sony Bravia 2015

It appears the fix might be in v1.6.1 (according to the above link). In the mean time I installed v1.6 and it broke all 4k support.

Now I either get 'unsupport format' or everything waits while Serviio is trying to reencode(?) it.

Looking for a link for v1.5.2 now. :roll:

Re: [Readme] Sony Bravia 2015

Edit: v1.6.1 is available and works as advertised.

HEVC, even UHD & HDR in MP4 and MKV stream beautifully to my XBRX850C. Better than Sony's own app.
Kudos to the Serviio team.

Thanx for your reply. I am using the same profile with you, but this profile does not show external .srt subtitles..... If you know something about this, i will appreciate!

It may depend on your playback app. The Sony Video App is messed up. It doesn't properly present aspect ratio, I've found it to skip on UHD/HDR content (when other apps don't) and it can only handle subtitles that are muxed. Some more advanced subtitle version may play, but aren't properly formatted. Unsupported audio formats result in no sound.

I use Kodi which has none of the above issues. External subtitles are played without re-encoding/burning in to the video. Muxed and unmuxed I've used SRT, ASS, SSA, Timed Text (tx3g), SUP (although 3D .SUP comes out wrong), and I think even IDX/SUB.

You can use the old Sony Bravia TV (2013/14) profile. I don't believe there is any need for a unique 2015 one.
For subtitles to work properly on the Sony Video App, remux your videos so they are embedded.
Otherwise install Kodi.

Should be all you need to know.

Re: [Readme] Sony Bravia 2015

I have TV Sony KD-55S8505C, set in the TV "Cody player." The notebook is set Serviio PRO v 1.6.1, share the files, but very often it is necessary to restart the server to Cody Serviio player saw files, sometimes just does not see. What could be the reason ?

Re: [Readme] Sony Bravia 2015
