Panasonic VIERA TX-55DS500E subtitles problem

Dear all,

I'm trying to play movies through Serviio DLNA server to my new Panasonic VIERA TX-55DS500E TV. Unfortunately there are no subtitles in the video stream and I can't use the "burn in" option, cause my computer is too slow to perform online transcoding. Subtitles are in the srt format and are named the same as the mkv files. As per the DEBUG log, I can see, that the subtitles are recognised by Serviio and served through the DLNA stream, but TV probably can't read it. Stream is using default Generic DLNA profile. I'm attaching the DEBUG log, please check that and advice if there isn't something wrong or if I shouldn't use some other DLNA profile (maybe Panasonic Viera (2013)? ).

Thanks to all!

Try the Panasonic 2015 profile here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=21909. For your Subtitle issue try embedding (muxing) the srt file into the MKV file using mkvmerge or ffmpeg. See here viewtopic.php?f=4&t=22065&p=108998&hilit=Embed#p108983 or search the forum for info on how to do this.

Hi DenyAll,

thanks a lot for your advice, unfortunately once I add that Panasonic 2015 profile into profiles.xml file, Serviio server is crashing. I'm attaching edited profiles.xml file and new DEBUG log. Could you please check that and advice what I made wrong?

Thank you.

Not sure what happened but your profiles.xml has all these codes in there (xAO - visible in NotePad++) - must have come across with the copy and paste?
Anyway have removed these code (haven't tested, not at home to do so).

Hi DenyAll,

I've edited the profile in standart Windows notepad, that was probably a mistake, cause without those codes Serviio starts flawlesly and moreover my TV now shows subtitles!!! Thats really great. Thank you very much!
