Transcoding on Samsung D8000

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help me regarding an issue on transcoding on my Samsung UED8000. I've been trying for the past couple of hours with no luck... Although some H265 content I have seem to be transcoding properly, I cannot manage to playback videos taken from a Samsung S7...

This is the log from serviio (DEBUG on) that seems odd since there is no visible refference (to me) in actually trying to playback the video. In the following lines it should depict my effort in playback certain videos (I used the TV remote to go to a random video and let it play 3-4 videos from there (all unplayable) so it should depict 3-4 failures).

Re: Transcoding on Samsung D8000

I have Samsung H and JU model TVs, and neither will play transcoded files. No idea what is up, but it's a Samsung thing, and not Serviio related. If you let the file be completely transcoded, then copy the file to a Serviio shared folder and rename it with mpg at the end, your TV will likely play it with no issues. When I had a Samsung Blu Ray player, it worked fine. The TVs just won't play files being transcoded.

Re: Transcoding on Samsung D8000

Hi and thank you for your reply.

You suggested me 'letting the file be completely transcoded' but no transcoding is taking place while the TV is requesting the videos that cannot be played. I don't see the CPU rising, no ffmpeg running on Task Manager and no log entry on serviio.log. It's just not requesting anything.

(As I said in my initial post, some different H265 content I have does transcodes properly (and also plays properly to my surprise)).

Re: Transcoding on Samsung D8000

My apologies. I responded with my (and others) Samsung experience without looking over your log.

I agree that this portion of the log does not contain any attempt to play the file. I will mention that with a debug log it is best to include the entire log, rather than pasting a section. It's just text, so can be zipped quite small. Also, by default Serviio breaks the log into 500k files. The errors you are looking for might be contained in another file. With debug enabled, the logs exceed that quickly, and it's amazing how many lines appear in the log before any user actions actually appear.

Re: Transcoding on Samsung D8000

Here is a complete log from a new installation (that I copied over the profiles.xml over), I shared just one folder in the library with 6 videos that cannot be played, and placed a random video (that can be played properly) in between. Then I browsed over to the folder and started playback from the 1st item. No attempt to play any of the videos is shown in the log (except from the placeholder I put in the middle to test it).

Then I placed over another video that can be transcoded (video 7), to show that at least in certain videos transcoding does work. Then I re-tried playing the entire folder from item1. Only item no4 registered in the log (the placeholder, a video that works properly) and then the new item (video 7) is shown. It acts like all the other videos do not even exist.
