Hi,
All mp4 video file thats created by my sony camera dont play properly. Essential the mp4 starts to play and then freezes then trys to play some sound and then some video but cant seem to do it all at the same time in a stuttering fashion.

Heres the output of the file, any ideas?

Re: mp4 wont play properly on sony bdp s370

check detailed log of when you play the file. If it's transcoded, try to run the ffmpeg command manually and play the resulting file (either in vlc or rename to .mpg and add to Serviio's library) to see if it's got the same problems.

Re: mp4 wont play properly on sony bdp s370

Renamed the file to end in .mpg and it has the same problem.
dont think .mp4 or .mpg is being transcoded as the log says delivered in native format.

I think it might be to do with the average bit rate of the file, according to the bit rate viewer its average rate is higher than any other movie i have (average 9328kbps)
anyway to get serviio to reduce this or any way to confirm this theory?

Re: mp4 wont play properly on sony bdp s370

you'd have to set up transcoding for mp4 and set maxVBitrate... but 900kb is not too high, it should go up to 20mbit (at least at peaks)

you might be right zip, i could be something else funny about the mp4, but i'd like to eliminate the rate for sure but i'm having a little trouble setting up a transcoding profile for mp4, not sure what target container and targetvcodec i should be using

Re: mp4 wont play properly on sony bdp s370

OK did a bit more testing and have discovered that if i play the sony cameras mpeg4 files directly from a usb device pluged into the sony bdps370 the video plays fine.

I'm not sure what this means exactly, but maybe the s370 isnt powerful enough to both play and stream certain files via dlna at the same time? or maybe there are known limits of this technology.

USB and DLNA are two completely different systems and can not be compared..
