Music Videos Catalog

Hi,

I have mentioned this before but not officially. I would like to request a separate folder for Music Videos during cataloging. Maybe we could move any video that is not identified as a movie of TV Show into a generic Others folder or adopt a "standard" for music videos for Serviio (maybe adding MV at the beginning of the file name - I would certainly update all my videos with certain naming convention if it helps!).

Thanks!

Re: Music Videos Catalog

Ok, let's start a discussion. I don't think we can get the metadata from somewhere (maybe I'm wrong), so we should provide it in the file name or some XML file.

What are the possible file names we should go for?

MV_<artist>_<song name> ? What are the possibilities you want? We could also mrk a folder name (eg Music Videos) to include those.

Re: Music Videos Catalog

I've found http://www.mvdbase.com/ but not sure if this can be used.
Currently all my music videos are under a folder named Music Videos, and this is also the way iTunes organize itself when we tag files as music videos. Always with naming convention <artist> - <song name> (very common on downloaded videos).

Tagging everything on a Music Videos folder as music videos and searching for metatag on mvdbase.com based on this structure (artist - song) seems to be imho the best approach at this moment...

Thanks again for all the feedbacks up to now!

Cheers,

Gustavo

Re: Music Videos Catalog

I also found http://developer.mtvnservices.com/ and http://www.muzu.tv/api?country=ww

Can you check if these sites have the metadata you require (I'm not a fan of music videos)?

Re: Music Videos Catalog

I have registered myself on http://developer.mtvnservices.com/ but I'm not a developer and don't really now how to check the API and verify if it has the metadata...
http://www.muzu.tv/api?country=ww does have an user search engine but the ones I have searched for didn't bring the right results (i.e. The Killers, Beatles, etc).

Not sure if I helped at all... I believe most people will be happy with the thumbnail based on a image snapshot if we can have the organization by artist, song, etc :-)

Btw, I have posted a comment about the 0.3 version and the server running in background on a mac. The solution I mentioned seems to be working here (very simple one) although I still need to perform more testing.

Cheers,
Gustavo

Hey Zip, any change this would still be considered for future versions?
Thanks!

Re: Music Videos Catalog

You still could get something like this working. I have been working with a few users to create custom tvshow.nfo files to group movies that are related. The concept should be able to be used with music videos.

Re: Music Videos Catalog

Sure that's a good idea. But I don't want to have so much work and I'm not a fan of fixing ;) . I hope it will be added to the official release soon.

Re: Music Videos Catalog

Tuneskit DRM Audio Converter for Mac is the tool for me to convert iTunes M4P Audio to common MP3 format. As we know all iTunes Audios are encrypted with DRM protected, including music, making it impossible to be played on Apple unauthorized devices. If you want to enjoy these DRM protected iTunes music in MP3 format, you may have to get rip of DRM protection at first. This tool is designed to remove DRM protection and convert audio to MP3 format at 30x faster speed with lossless quality.
