Buffering - Serviio or Samsung "Media Play"?

I have setup my hard drive (containing my movies) to go into "Standby" mode if it is not being used. If a movie has been paused for too long, the hard drive goes into "Standby" mode. Once I hit "Play" the movie continues on, but I notice that my hard drive is still spun down. This means the movie is being buffered. I notice that each movie is buffered about 10 seconds. My question: Is it Serviio or my Samsung "Media Play" software that buffers the movie? If it Serviio that buffers the movie, how do I change this value?

Is it renderer dependant, how Sony Bravia TV deals with that?
