Re: New Toshiba Blu-ray Profile Requiring Testers.

Didn't the sink information in the other thread imply that these players can in fact play mkv amongst other formats? Force transcoding everything to mpeg2video should be avoided if at all possible.

Re: New Toshiba Blu-ray Profile Requiring Testers.

sink was not for his model. He says in teh thread that device was not detected by devicespy, that why i wnat users to test it out and if i can drop transcoding i will BUT if they are anything like the toshiba TVs they need alot of transcoding.

Re: New Toshiba Blu-ray Profile Requiring Testers.

Does * after a format type mean that the format isn't supported, or does it mean that the renderer isn't fussy about the exact DLNA resource type?

it means it's not fussy, it's the basic UPnP notation

Re: New Toshiba Blu-ray Profile Requiring Testers.

I tried out this profile on a Toshiba BDK21. The Serviio server did not automatically recognize the device (should it have?), so I manually selected it.

I was then able to play music from my Mac mini, but the MP4 movies from my Mini Flip HD weren't recognized, and I was surprised to find that I couldn't even get to the JPG files in my iPhoto 'Originals' directory to show up.

I've only just begun running Serviio, so I'm sure some more tweaking / transcoding and/or directory renaming will take care of the issues. The server, however, does seem to disappear after a while; I haven't yet looked to see if a core file was dropped, nor even investigated where any logging is being kept.

Re: New Toshiba Blu-ray Profile Requiring Testers.

I just had my Toshiba BDX3300 replaced with a BDX3400 and it now provides details when I use Device Spy. I have been using the WDLive profile with good results with both players but it occasionally doesn't like some of the files I send at it. The 3400 had trouble with an MP4 recently that was only fixed by reencoding it.
