2:35 PM Customer: Why BDP-S780 DLNA player's send all the videos (network and USB) to a frequency of 60Hz TV, although source video was shot at a frequency of 50Hz or 25Hz?
This Applies to all videos from a network or USB. Not for Blu-ray disc!

2:38 PM Jaye - (C4HR): Thanks for waiting. I will be glad to assist you in providing the information about the specification of the Blu-ray player in senting all the videos to afrequency of 60 HZ TV.

2:39 PM Jaye - (C4HR): Please let ma know the type of cable you are using to transfer the videos to the Blu-ray player.

2:40 PM Jaye - (C4HR): Please ignore my previous statement.

2:40 PM Jaye - (C4HR): Please let me know the type of cable you are using to transfer the videos from the Blu-ray player.

2:41 PM Jaye - (C4HR): Thanks for the information.

2:45 PM Jaye - (C4HR): Please let me know if the picture appears in 60 HZ while playing the disc in the Blu-ray player.

2:47 PM Customer: Not with a disc! Only via USB and network!

2:47 PM Jaye - (C4HR): Thanks for the information.

2:47 PM Customer: When the video begins, the player 1080p and 60hz.

2:48 PM Customer: Sorry, I repeat my question:
Why BDP-S780 DLNA player's send all the videos (network and USB) to a frequency of 60Hz TV, although source video was shot at a frequency of 50Hz or 25Hz?

2:50 PM Jaye - (C4HR): Okay.

2:50 PM Jaye - (C4HR): Please confirm if the discs that you're trying to playback in the Blu-ray player supports 24Hz.

2:52 PM Customer: Yes, the player also supports 24Hz my tv (XBR8).

2:52 PM Jaye - (C4HR): Thanks for the confirmation.

2:52 PM Jaye - (C4HR): Are you using a Sony TV?

2:53 PM Customer: Yes, XBR8 (55'')

3:02 PM Jaye - (C4HR): Also, confirm if the Display area is set to "Full Pixel" in the screen settings of the TV.

3:04 PM Customer: Yes, "Cinema Conversion Mode" is set to AUTO! Yes, "Full Pixel" is set of the TV!

3:06 PM Customer: The problem only exists in the network (DLNA) and USB.

3:07 PM Jaye - (C4HR): Please let me know if the BD/DVD Rom 1080/24p output is set to "AUTO" in the screen settins menu of the Blu-ray player.

3:07 PM Jaye - (C4HR): I am sorry for the typo

3:08 PM Jaye - (C4HR): *settings.

3:09 PM Customer: Yes, BD/DVD Rom 1080/24p output is set to "AUTO".

3:09 PM Customer: It would give an option to switch, 60hz <-> 24Hz. This could be remedied in a new firmware.

3:10 PM Customer: In conclusion: Take a USB stick with a video file. It is played with 60Hz not 25Hz.

3:10 PM Jaye - (C4HR): Okay.

3:12 PM Jaye - (C4HR): Surely I'll forward this to our concerned department, so that they can provide this feature with the furture firmware update.

Dear Sony,

Why does my 2009 Bravia show DLNA thumbnails, but no subsequent product does, only for photos? How could they not have noticed this?!

Reply from SONY Germany (Request from early January).

Dear Sir (s) Mr. XXXX,

Thank you turned your concern regarding your BDP-S780 to us.

First, we ask you many times to apologize because of the high volume email, our late reply and thank you for your patience so far they have placed.

Playback of video files through DLNA with 60hz corresponds to the current standard.

Your suggestion regarding the switching process (25hz), we have gladly taken up and passed on.

For this we thank you very much.

Yours sincerely,

I would like the ability to delete trophies from my psn account (Yes, I know they are stored on a cloud profile) that are from games I no longer intent to play or that I played once and have no intentions of ever playing again. Thank you.

Re: Suggest future DLNA features for Sony devices

I do not understand one thing. Is it because Sony hardware device(TV) does not support subtitles over DLNA that serviio cannot show them even after transcoding or otherwise ? Or it is the development of serviio profiles for dlna the issue.

- Serviio support subtitles on exernal srt file, but Sony device does not support this.
- Serviio support mkv/avi streaming in native format (these stream could include subtitle tracks), but not all sony devices support mkv or avi format. (Sony BDP support mkv/subtitle and avi/subx)
- Serviio does not support subtitle burning on video track.

Re: Suggest future DLNA features for Sony devices

As per your second point since serviio supports subtitle on streaming it must be doing it while transcoding too. So if my Sony device does not support mkv I should be able to see the subtitles on trancoding. But that is not the case. Please clarify. I cannot support testing on my TV is required

Why does the serviio needs to have a library? Why cant it just directly access the files as the PS3 does? Am a great fan of serviio but the library updating is a bit troublesome......

Because its too slow, this the why I don't use PS3 Media Server...too slow to browse a large library.
I disable serviio library update, and manually force when new media were added...

Dedicated "page up" "page down" (for much faster scrolling through the lists) in the UI

Sony BD does not play back 24/25 at 24/50 Hz respectively. Bravia TV does however.

BD does not have shuffle/repeat for playback, but TV does. BD does not have thumbnails, but TV does. Wish they'd just merge the functionality between the TV and the BD players.

Sony KDL-40D3100 and BDP-S390 (Loungeroom)

Has Sony planned to ever support subtitles trough dlna (without transcoding/burning by the streamer off course)?

With 2013 model, embedded subtitles are supported with MKV files in native format (without transcoding).

External subtitle files are only supported over USB.

Embedded subtitles with mkv are supported, which means converting every avi to mkv first then, doesn't really seem like an option.
If they support it over usb, it's only a small step to supporting external subtitles over network too. The question is will they ever do this AND bring an update to their models...

Re: Suggest future DLNA features for Sony devices

On the PS3 Media Server it is possible to choose between 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8 in the size of the legend, and the color of it. I would do the same in Serviio. This configuration option is available? SA and will not this next update Serviio? It would be very useful for people who are away from tv and has vision problems in addition to old people.

Don't know what the status is for past hardware, but my two BD players will play MKV video rips of DVDs with selectable captions. I can select multiple audio tracks as well. What won't work with MKV files is Blu-Ray rip captions. If They are ripped into M2TS, then the captions will display. But in MKV, the player shows there are captions available but never appear when selected. Multiple audio tracks work with BD rips as well, although I have some that will freeze the player when sending HD audio and others that send the bitstream with no issues. I think it's DTS MasterAudio that sometimes (but not all videos) hiccups, while Dolby TrueHD plays fine. Don't quote me, I may have them backwards...

Re: Suggest future DLNA features for Sony devices

Hello Zip,

Has there been any progress on showing video file thumbnails in the SMP-N100/200 streamers?

If there is a Plug-In that will allow for thumbnails to be seen that would also work for me.

Thanks!
