Problem with dual function device

Serviio gives a greenlight on seeing device (HP MediaSmart Connect X280N).  Serviio is grayed out on the device, and I get an error that says "Not Authorized To Browse Server."  I have disabled firewall & antivirus.  I have allowed device through Windows 7 Firewall, outbound & inbound.  I have removed all devices listed in Serviio.  Restarted device, computer, & router.  Removed, and re-added library.  Shutdown server & restart.  Reset device.  Shared library folders with device, gave full permissions to device to the Serviio folder.  Many other things, that I just can't remember, kind of makes my head hurt...lol.  Basically, I am unable to figure this out.  The device sees shares via WMP12, but I like Serviio much better.  I use Serviio without any problems on Sony SMP-N200 and Xbox 360's.  Really stuck, and scratching my head, doesn't make much sense.  UPNP is enabled on my router, and device appears in Win 7 devices & printers, and Network.

The only weird thing that I see is that there are 3 devices listed as HP MediaSmart Connect.

Here's whats listed in the properties:

-uuid:58dc3f87-abd1-40d4-a2c8-d6856773bee1
No MAC
IP Address:  127.0.0.1

-uuid:25c43466-1dd2-11b2-8503-001f2911b060
HAS MAC LISTED
IP Address:  192.168.1.105

-uuid:E29231B5-CEE7-4E06-9BBF-2DFA8E84BE26
HAS MAC LISTED
IP Address:  192.168.1.105

The only one listed in this folder "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome\Mcx\UPnPDevices is E29231B5-CEE7-4E06-9BBF-2DFA8E84BE26

My gut is that the uuid isn't right somewhere, but thats beyond me.

If you could help me out that would be appreciated, because I bought this device to eliminate two separate devices.

Re: Problem with dual function device

Even more strange....just installed Plex, works with no problems. Plex just doesn't have per device control or device access restriction levels. Come on developer, I have Serviio Pro, please fix this problem. Definitely a Serviio issue, because WMP12 sharing works fine too. I want Serviio to work for me. Running 2 dlna servers doesn't make sense! Let me know what you need for info.

Re: Problem with dual function device

In serviio you can set default action for new devices to view content or not. Your error msg suggest you have a restriction set in serviio. I may well be by mistake but have you double check restrictions in serviio console.

Re: Problem with dual function device

Have tried both limited & restricted. Both give same authorization message on device. Its crazy. Device sees Serviio, Serviio green lights device, but still can't access server. No problem with WMP12 and Plex. Doesn't make sense. Isn't DLNA...DLNA?
Something isn't implemented right on the Serviio side. I'd call it a bug, but it is more of a nucance. Some developer support please. Anybody with a problem with not being able to access the server, when both device and server see each other, please enlighten me

Serviio server ip: 192.168.1.150

Device ip: 192.168.1.105

I removed the library info from the log and renamed the log file, was originally serviio.log

Re: Problem with dual function device

Your firewall is fine, there is traffic between the device and the server. I see the device asks for the server's capabilities, but after that there is not further traffic.

Try to remove stored servers on the device if possible, otherwise not sure what could be causing this.

Re: Problem with dual function device

I have removed all servers from device. Unplugged, reset device. No go.
Always the same "Not Authorized To Browse Server" message on the device.
Weird, weird!
I've even re-installed, re-started pc. Other DLNA's are seen and accessible from device.
Is there a problem with the uuid?

Its a windows media extender & DLNA/UPnP device (X280N).
There is a WMC interface & a media streaming interface. Both are two separate parts.

This is the uuid that is used for the extender part: E29231B5-CEE7-4E06-9BBF-2DFA8E84BE26 (If I right click and click configure it brings me to WMC)
This is what I figure is the uuid (With the name HP MediaSmart Connect in "Network") for the DLNA part: 25c43466-1dd2-11b2-8503-001f2911b060 (If I right click there is an option to Allow streaming to this device-Opens WMP12)
This is also shown in "Network" with the name HP MediaSmart Connect (Same device named twice?): 58dc3f87-abd1-40d4-a2c8-d6856773bee1 (If I right click there is "not" an option to Allow streaming to this device)

I can only believe that somehow Serviio has locked itself onto the wrong uuid

I could be wrong, but just giving what I see.

How does Serviio "Authenticate" devices, and is there a way to edit the uuid's in a config file?

In a prior log I saw that the there were to uuid with the ip 192.168.1.105, so maybe Serviio is kind of lost in the response to the device.

I've been searching the forums, and trying different things.
Maybe a registry edit?

Re: Problem with dual function device

So Serviio only allows one renderer per IP, so your 2 devices will override each other as they advertise themselves to Serviio. Not sure if there could be some confusion then.

58dc3f87-abd1-40d4-a2c8-d6856773bee1 comes from .150 IP address, 25c43466-1dd2-11b2-8503-001f2911b060 comes from .105.

Also, the renderer has Limited access group - it should not matter, but try to set it to No Restriction (right click on the renderer in the console).

Re: Problem with dual function device

Already tried to change to no restriction, didn't work.
I am thinking exactly the same with the ip/uuid confuse. Its actually one device, but gives out 3 uuid's.
One for media center extender function (works flawless), one for dlna function, and one for a discountined online streaming services that was supplied via a software install on a pc (assuming this, because hp stopped supporting, and services do not show up)

Now, I think its safe to say Serviio isn't using the right uuid, as Plex & WMP12 have no problem (but I hate both of them!).

If you could give me some experimental "fix", I'd be more than happy to try.
I am not afraid of the registry, config files, or pretty much anything on a pc, so let me try anthing you can come up with. I am savy with fixing pc problems, but this seems like more of a coding/config issue....my coding is limited to basic html/css. I know nothing about Java.

Thanks

Re: Problem with dual function device

This uuid:58dc3f87-abd1-40d4-a2c8-d6856773bee1 has a Loopback address, so why would Serviio think that it is the right uuid, when Windows sees it correctly?

Anything on this yet. An update, a bone, anything. I am a pro user, and love the mobile apps, and have paid for them also. How to straighten this problem, Serviio is a good DLNA server for my other devices, but this is driving me nuts. I've been searching the web on anything pertaining to the details I have given. It just seems like Serviio is having problems interpreting which uuid is for DLNA/UPnP, while others work fine. Please help me try and fix this.

Nothing?

How to submit a bug?

This is definitely a bug!

Every other DLNA Server Software I have tried has no problem with communicating correctly with my device (Tried 4 others).

Code needs debugging, some how the loop back uuid is getting chosen, which would just send it back to my pc.

There's the reason there's no further traffic.

Re: Problem with dual function device

There is no way, at least in Java, to figure out of a remote interface is loopback or not.

Can't you disable one of the devices?

Re: Problem with dual function device

I've been trying to figure that out, but the device only shows up as HP MediaConnect Extender in device manager. The driver for the other 2 uuids only shows USBum, and I don't know if disabling USBum in device manager will break anything else in Windows.

So Java does the device polling?
I was kind of starting to lean toward that, because the other DLNA Servers that I tried are not Java based.
Anything code wise that you could do to block loopback addresses, if the devices have the same MAC Address?

I even tried blocking the loopback address to Serviio in Windows firewall, still not authorized error.

I found this searching. Not sure if it applies to this situation. Just thought I'd throw it into the mix.

Re: Problem with dual function device

Is there a version of Serviio without access control?
If so, is it possible to run 2 instances of Serviio?

I just installed another DLNA server that has access controls, and the same authorization error is popping up. I just need a way to verify if the access controls are the problem. The DLNA servers without access control work fine. Even though WMP12 has a way to block individual devices, I'm guessing MS implements restrictions different.

If there is a version without access control, how could I obtain a copy?

Re: Problem with dual function device

Did more testing. Things are getting better. Got the other DLNA with access control to work!! It seems more of a profile issue.
The DLNA server actually had a profile for HP MediaSmart, and as soon as I changed it, the server was accessible...GREAT!

Now I'm gonna post the profile that the DLNA server uses for the HP MediaSmart. Hopefully someone can help, guide, or even
just use the profile to create an HP MediaSmart profile for Serviio.

Thanks in advance, my fingers are crossed, but I'm really feeling like the profile is the problem now.
