Samsung BD-F5100 won't play MKV audio

PostPosted: Tue May 14, 2013 1:48 pm

Hey guys,

I'm having a little trouble with something rather weird. It's an MKV container with Ogg audio - but Servio doesn't seem to be transcoding the audio to the player - I keep getting a message of 'Audio Codec not Supported' all the while the video is playing marvellously. After a little fiddling, I noticed that it did not seem to be transcoding anything. It's just serving the files in the same way that AllShare would.

I am using the Samsung C series/players profile, as it seemed to fit the bill best.

As you can see, I've tried a couple of different things. The basic issue seems to be that it's not trying to transcode anything I push through it, it's just feeding it through. It seems to affect Ogg and AVC profiled video and audio. I tried adding 'AVC' to the transcoding specs, but I have had no luck. I suspect I just don't know what I'm doing. :) Here's what I changed in the config file:

Can you post ffmpeg -i for the file?

If you use the C/D/E profile, it should transcode this file, there is this line in the profile

  Code:
<Matches container="matroska" vCodec="h264" aCodec="vorbis" />

Check detailed log to confirm if the C/D/E profile is really used and if the file is indeed transcoded.

Hi there,

I do have it on detailed logging - the logs I sent you were a snippet of the event at the time. How do I check to see that it is indeed using the profile I've chosen? What sort of event am I looking for in the log?

Al.

Ah.

I have changed the profile to the C/D/E, it's always been on that - however could the fact that it is considered an 'unrecognised device' be a problem?

Alright, I've managed to magically make it work, but now my subtitles have disappeared. Before it was just feeding it straight to the player without transcoding anything - and now it's transcoding everything, when it only needs to transcode the sound. How do I turn it off in this case?

I can post my detailed log, but it's 16 meg so far...

Al.

Did you turn on burning subtitles in? Or did you select a different profile?
