It's the exact content of the list but as you can see it's listed in alaphabetical order.

Can you check to list the playlist in VLC or MediaBroswer? It should sort properly, but the TV might be sorting them alphabetically.

As i said the playlist is ok with VLC.
If someone in this forum uses m3u playlist format, can you tell me if it works in the right order ?
Note that i try with pls format and it's the same -> alphabetical order.
Perhaps a samsung Series E problem ?

It has to be said that apparently nobody uses playlists with Serviio.
However it seems that many DLNA servers have problems with playlists and apparently it's the same with Serviio.
But that would be better if Serviio team could confirm the problem to avoid searching a solution for days.

If the playlist look ok in VLC (via Serviio), then Serviio sends it in the right order.

Hi Zip,
The playlist appears in the right order in VLC via Serviio but not on the TV.
Do you think it could be a parameter in the Samsung TV / Player (C/D/E-series) profile ?

I don't think so. Do other items you browse appear in the right order and not alphabetically (e.g. audio tracks on an album)?

Yes it's the same alphabetical order with an audio playlist.
I use exclusively folder option for browsing my files on the TV and it always sort alphabetically any kind of file, folder and playlist.
I dont' find any parameter on the TV to avoid this and apparently DLNA requests are overriden by that.
It's surprising that nobody reports this kind of behavior.

In Folders category they are ordered alphabetically by file name, that's fine. You could turn on Audio / Albums and see how it's ordered in these categories.

I've tried with 3 differents DLNA servers and it's the same behavior for all.
My conclusion is this is the TV and i must say it's a shame for a supposed DLNA renderer. I'll try to get support from samsung and i'll post the response (if they do it !).

This issue appears to be related to the version of the Samsung environment being used. I own several samsung smart TV's and have two on my desktop that I use as PC monitors. One of them is a smart tv which I purchased 3 years ago, the other is an ES8000 which I purchased the other day and is this years model. I created several playlists with varying sort orders and placed them where they could be read in Serviio. On the older model the lists appear the order they were placed in the m3u/ playlist file e.g. by date, chapter number etc. In the newer model, though, they appear in alphabetic order. Since all my internal systems are connected to the network I checked the other sets connected through serviio and the older systems show the correct sort order while the more recent Samsung, like the one on my desktop, displays the information alphabetically. I would conclude Samsung changed its upnp to sort these lists in alphabetic order for their newer smart TV's. The m3u file is merely a directory dump of file names and locations. I am not sure as to why Samsung has made this specific change to their display of a playlist, but they have, and are disregarding certain information in the playlist file and re-sorting that information alphabetically.

I confirm :
Samsung says play with the color buttons on the remote control but it does nothing.
The tools menu is very poor and i can't change anything.
This problem is only for video m3u playlists, the music playlists are displayed in the right order.
So at this point i don't see any solution. Thanks for your support.

Yes, I can confirm the same behavior with the new Samsung Smart Media Player.
All video playlists are shown in alphabetical order regardless of the order they are in within the playlist. My Sony BDP works perfectly with Serviio playlists and shows the correct playlist order.
What the heck was Samsung thinking????
Very frustrated.

Just to add my 2 cents, my audio playlists (all m3U8's) were created in MP3Tag and work as intended in WinAmp, Serviio, WDLive, WDLive from Serviio, but NOT my Samsung UN40F5500. In their wisdom, I guess, the folks at Samsung decided that I didn't really want the list as constructed, so they sorted it alphabetically on Title. For a randomized playlist that I wanted, would have preferred if they sorted, say, on file size.
Now to show my ignorance about DLNA: Why doesn't Serviio, since it's streaming, just send one track/file/song from the playlist at a time, thereby maintaining the integrity of the playlist order? I bet the Samsung's dumb enough not to care.
