Hi i have a Samsung Smart TV UN75F6300AF, Serviio version 1.4, Java 7 standard edtion. I have been trying to get this to work for weeks now, trying all sorts of things and even other programs, but this one seems to work the best so far. I will try to give as much info as possible, so i don't get advice on the stuff i have already read on these forums and tried. I have shared folders D, E, F, G, added them to my libary and they are all updated. I am able to access all the files and folders on those drives , i just can't seem to access any of there subfolders. Drives F and G just have video files in them with no folders, have no problem playing any of the 2000 movies on them. In D i have all my tv shows i can accces them if they are in the D drive itself but if they are in a folder of any type Example D:\TV\Battlestar Galactica\Battlestar Galactica (1978)\Season 1, i can see the Battlestar Galactica folder, but when i go to enter that folder on TV it says "Request cannot be completed. MEDIA PLAY will be return to the main screen". Now the D folder is shared i even tried to share the Battlestar Galactica folder and all the folders leading to the video i want to play, in windows and in serviio, but still no luck. When i try the to access the season 1 folder directly the TV says "No video files found on the coneected device.".
Any ideas plz help.
I don't think it is a sharing issue though, it may be a Samsung issue cause i can access most but not all the folders threw Videos/Series on the TV but not threw Videos/Folders/D. When i access threw the series folder though the id tags (Metadata) are all named retarded, so i would like to be able to access them threw the way i have laidout on my pc in order and named properly. Also i can only access the 1978 Battlestar Galactica, i don't see the 1980 season 2 or the 2004 BSG.

i have no windows pc in front of me right now, so i can't tell you exactly by pictures BUT you have to be sure to give full permisions for:
1. give everyone permisions for share
2. give everyone permisions for folder and files
then you are sure your windoze won't block you

This appears to be a known issue related to either the Samsung TV and/or sharing of root folders: see
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=14816&p=83202.
As an aside, and although not your problem, I don't believe overlapping shared folders works - so sharing D: and then a subfolder of D: will only place the item in the library once (once you sort out the issue you will likely only find it under D: not under both). What happens if you remove D: from the shared folders (and only include the sub-folder).
When i access threw the series folder though the id tags (Metadata) are all named retarded
Imho it is well worth the effort to get this up and working (and it will also provide a work-around until the root issue is fixed). To do this use a tool like Filebot to help you rename the files so that they are matched to metadata: see my post at
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=10626&p=70544#p70544. Once done all your series will be nicely catalogued under Series, Series Name, Season and all be named with the proper episode name.

unable write/read root of disk under windows 7/8 is intended feature of windows?
under linux, using symlinks, it is easly to put same file in different folders, so i have some files to appear twice in library, for example fast and furious films appear first time when you search exact quality (720p or 1080p) and all together in separate folder named f&f.
if serviio acts as you said, then it is impossible to achieve something similar under windows?

Its not related to file access rights, as they have been added and you can access them through other categories. It's a known issue between Serviio and the F series when browsing the Folders category. Already looked into it, but couldn't work it out so far, will give it another go later.

Found this problem with F series Samsung , while you cannot access via folders the search option by title does work.

Thx for all the info guys i'm currently in the porcess of working out all the quirks in filebot to rename all my files. However to the site admin i do not thimk it is a Serviio issue at all, and more of a Samsung issue, because i have had the same problems with multiple other programs i have tried. So i guess i will just have to live with it for now until Samsung comes out with a fix if they ever do.

Actually Samsung TV works fine with DLNA in general and I have used it in the past with Samsung PC Share program on WIN 7. However that doesn't work on my newer WIN 7 PC... and Samsung through their useless web site has no way to find the PC SHARE software to download.

So I tried Serviio and the Samsung TV can SEE the server OK but it CANNOT see the files I have shared! I went into Serviio console and set the folkders I want to share. I checked their status and they are all SHARED for EVERYONE with FULL ACCESS. They are not in the ROOT and so all the usual explanations for why Serviio fails do not apply. I have tried all the suggestions on the forums so far - ZERO SUCCESS with Serviio - what a pity!
