Samsung C series - MKV: Embedded subtitle problem

The TV has the profile for Samsung C/D series. Subtitles embedded in a MKV are not showing, external ones (.SRT) work just fine. The embedded subtitles do work on my other and newer Samsung TV (E series).

I can manually extract the subtitles of course but I would like Serviio do that for me. So how can I explain the profile to *only* extract the subtitle if it's an MKV file and NO trans-coding is necessary. (Yes, the current subtitles options are checked but I suspect they don't work because they only work in combination with trans-coding).

Thanks,

The Embedded subtitles option must be selected. then Serviio tries to extract the subtitles (make sure to enter your language preference) and serve it as aif it was just external srt.

Problem is that it may take a long time for some MKVs (especially on remote drives) to extract the srt file and the TV in the meantime starts playing the video without the subtiutles file.

You can check detailed log and see the srt extraction ffmpeg command and try to run it manually.

Thanks for the tip, I will enable the debug log and see if the extraction process is actually started.

Thinking about the extracting process needing time, perhaps you can stream an ' Extracting subtitle .. please wait .. '' message? :-)
