Cannot Play WMV File

I created a slide show using Photo Story 3 and saved it in 2 different formats:
"Save the story for play back on my computer." and
"Save your story for play back on a portable media player"
- didn't know which would work with Servillo (I'm very new at this video technology thing).
Both files are .wmv format.

When I try to view it on my TV using Servillo v1.4, it does not find ether file. It finds the file name, but does not see any file(s) when I select it.

I read a post http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=fix_avis about how to fix a non playable AVI file and thought it might also apply to my wmv file, so tried it, but I get an error message: "AVI file support has been removed at the request of MicroSoft."

I have another/previous .wmv file that Servillo recognized and plays well. But I originally used Samsung's PC Share Manager (Since given up on it in favor of Servillo) to view it. It looks like PC Share Mgr created an additional .mta file (it's there and I don't believe I did it - not consciously anyways). There is no .mta file associated with my problem Photo Story.

Any thoughts on how to get it to play?

TV: Samsung LN55C650L1FXZA
Bluray: BD-C5500
PC: HP compaq dx2200
Windows: XP Pro

A short search on the web suggests that the wmv's created by Photo Story are non-standard. What that means though we need to find out. Can you post both MediaInfo and ffmpeg details for the file. See viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1123.

Not sure what details you are asking for, but will be happy to post anything that will help. The "photo story (wmv file) is made up of some 100 still shots (jpg images). Here is a typical photo and it's metadata:
[img]F:\Pictures\Events\2011%20-%20forward\201312%20Panama%20Canal%20Cruise\Panama248A.jpg[/img]

[img]F:\Pictures\Events\2011%20-%20forward\201312%20Panama%20Canal%20Cruise\Panama248A_3.pdf[/img]

Please walk me through anything else you might want to see - and thanks for your attention, Much appreciated :D

Interesting - MediaInfo sees the video as wvp2, whereas ffmpeg sees it as mjpeg.

Which device profile are you using (Status tab in Serviio console) - I assume (for the below) you are using the Samsung E/F profile. Edit the Samsung E/F profile in serviio\config\profiles.xml and add the line:

    <Matches container="asf" vCodec="mjpeg" />
    directly after the existing line
    <Matches container="asf" vCodec="wmv2" />
Restart your PC after editing the profile file. This should transcode the video and audio in the file to something suitable for your TV.

Actually, I believe I'm using Samsung C-D.
Still haven't figured out how to insert an image in here to show a screen shot, but the Device & Profile Name is "Samsung TV / player (C/D-series)". There are also 2 other "Unrecognized Devices" listed (Probably my Bluray player and Tuner).

So I assume I need to add the line of code to the C/D Profile. Is that correct?

The Samsung C/D profile inherits from the E/F profile so you can make the change in either. If you do it in the C/D profile you need to create a whole new transcode block (not hard but...) so probably easier to add it to the E/F profile.

OK, I did it, but doesn't work. The wmv file starts playing audio (no video) for about 15 seconds, then says "Unsupported format."

Under this profile:
<Profile id="sam_ef" name="Samsung TV / player (E/F-series)" extendsProfileId="1">
I entered:
<Matches container="asf" vCodec="mjpeg" />
directly after:
<Matches container="asf" vCodec="wmv2" />

It looks like this:
  Code:
<Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" targetACodec="ac3" forceInheritance="true">
            <Matches container="asf" vCodec="wmv2" />
            <Matches container="asf" vCodec="mjpeg" />
         </Video>
         <Audio targetContainer="lpcm" forceInheritance="true">
            <Matches container="mp4" />
