Only empty folders on the tv. Serviio doesnt work

In the past (like two years ago) I tried Serviio from a linux computer and never got it to work, just empty folders on the tv.
Now I just bought another tv (Samsung TV 40H6500) and I've tried using Serviio in my macbook pro so I can play movies on my new TV but same problem, this hasn't evolved. Just empty folders and not even all of them (folders).
I've tried almost all possible profiles in the pulldown, I've restarted it so many times and waited to see if it needed some time to sync but no luck. Guess I'll have to buy the apple TV.
Anyone had this same problem and was able to fix it?
