where have all my movies gone

I am using my macbook pro running mountain lion 10.8.5 to run serviio from, I have the serviio folder on my desktop and I am running it by clicking on the shortcut inside that folder, as well as opening up the console using the other shortcut inside the same folder.
I have the folder containing my movies on my desktop.
I am streaming to A Samsung smart TV.
I can connect to the TV ok, I can load the movies fine and play them (I have already set the library up)
After I quit serviio and then shutdown the macbook and restart, my movies folder has gone.
This has only happened using serviio
I was lucky in that I had backed up my movies to an external drive,
I have tried it three times altogether, and each time it does the same, but only after I have set it up and streamed from servioo.
its doing my nut in at the moment.
obviously the titles still show on the TV, but have no library to connect to
Any advice and help would be great
