Serviio

So.....I had to re install my OS. I'm at Windows 8.1 just like before. When I went and re downloaded the latest version of serviio and installed it........now on my Samsung PN59D8000......Only about half my files will play ..... the other files that did previously play, just now say... unsupported file format.
I did find someone else on here that had a similar ish problem and they solved it by doing something with the router, so I called trendnet since I was having a few issues with wireless also and they had me update the firmware. ......But still I have only half my files playing....and subtitles aren't recognized anymore.
if anyone has any suggestions.....I'd love to hear em.

Some files play and others don't. That does not indicate a network issue, so I highly doubt the router could have anything to do with it.

Is it possible that you had some sort of customization to your profiles.xml file that did something different for your TV? Are you sure you are using the same device profile as before? There are several Samsung profiles, and also some tweaks have been offered by other users.

I also doubt it could be an issue with the codecs installed on your computer: to my knowledge Serviio doesn't use anything outside what it installs. Out of curiosity, can you play them all on the computer itself? Need to make sure that whatever required the OS reinstall didn't affect the video files.

I am not sure about the profiles.xml. I just installed serviio the same way as before. So maybe something there is different but.......I wouldn't know.
And not sure where to look and finds tweaks from others on here.
And yes the files do play on my computer and they will play in Plex.....but I don't particularly like plex. I just tried it to see if files played in it. Serviio worked perfectly for me before.

Try enabling transcoding

Ahhhhhhhhhhh......figured it out!! Combined 2 suggestions and it led to the answer thank you. Of course....I'm an idiot and missed something from before. But thanks for suggestions that lead to the fix....all works now and works beautifully

But on kind of a different note........ does transcoding make things better???? read a few things that makes me wonder....????
