How long before Serviio starts working?

Forgive me if this has been answered, but after a cursory search, I didn't find it. Perhaps someone can direct me to a FAQ.

I've had a Samsung 50" UF6300 Smart TV for about a year and had been using Samsung's Allshare to play movies and music from my laptop. I always found Allshare kind of flaky and no support available anywhere. One of my biggest beefs was that after I've added a new video or music on my laptop, it takes a whole day before it appears in Allshare on my TV. The only way I can watch or sisten sto something immediately is via the TV's USB port. Having read that people like Serviio better and there is a support forum for it, I downloaded it and installed it.

I see Serviio now appears as one of the sources on my TV. However, I see no content. How long does it take for content to appear? Does it take a whole day, just like Allshare?

Generally some media should become visible almost straight away. It may take some time before all of your media is indexed, but you should see some media being added - check the Folder category first.

Make sure you have the correct renderer profile assigned for your TV - see http://www.serviio.org/component/conten ... ng-started.
Also check using Mediabrowser - see http://www.serviio.org/component/conten ... diabrowser ad see if media appears there - checking the Folders category first again.

Is your media on a remote drive - if so check http://www.serviio.org/component/conten ... e?id=21#q5.
If none of the above helps, post a detailed log (click on link for instructions) back here.

Okay, I have it now. Under the Library tab I had a couple of folders selected, but I hadn't checked the share boxes for Video, Audio, Image and Descriptive boxes. I have them all checked now and can see them on my TV. I hope that's all it was. Sure better than waiting a day for the media to appear using Allshare.
