Have movies in folders that don't show in serviio while I have other movies that have been deleted still showing in serviio?
Confused.

I've seen Serviio show movies within hidden folders (such as the Recycle Bin) on rare occasions. There's a check box on the console to turn on and off searching hidden folders. Make sure it's not checked.

Now, why are movies not showing? First a question: are they visible in MediaBrowser but not from a network device (such as a TV or BD Player)? On most devices, movies that are determined as not playable are not shown. Make sure you have the proper profile selected for your playback device. If they aren't in MediaBrowser either, then there's an issue with the videos. Post media information on a file that doesn't appear.

Hidden folders is unchecked but deleted files still showing.
You stated 'movies that are determined as not playable are not shown'
that has not been my experience, my tv does not support all my movie library but does display all, just get error ' file not supported message' when I select [I mainly use my DVD player , f series samsung for playing movies].
Don't have 'media browser', all movies will play direct from usb stick , just not via serviio.

With my Samsung TV and BD player, as well as the Roku, if the media is calculated as unplayable, it doesn't even show up.

MediaBrowser is part of Serviio. When you first install it, you have a trial period that MediaBrowser is available. If you buy the Pro license, MediaBrowser is enabled full time.

Just because something plays from a USB stick doesn't mean it will play over DLNA. Different devices work differently via the two methods.

Now why the deleted files are still showing, I don't understand. My only guess is the database hasn't updated since they were removed. If you click "Force Refresh" on the console, do they still appear?

Have used the force refresh several times , still same problem. Maybe I will re-install serviio see if it sorts things out.

Plex certainly has its pros and cons. If your player has a native Plex app, it can be a nice experience, with full metadata and selectable audio and caption tracks. If you have to rely on its DLNA functionality, I don't consider it any better than Serviio. In many ways, Serviio is better because of its customization ability for the profiles. I don't think you can do much adjusting with Plex for DLNA support.

but if it works for you, great. I'm surprised your Mac is no longer supported. I'm not familiar with MacOS, but I didn't think that was too old of a version. I see on the Serviio download page it does list 10.8 is a minimum, as well as 64 bit only. Is there some reason you can't upgrade?

Can't upgrade beyond 10.7.5 without purchasing a new Mac. Happy with Plex so far though.
