Media Servers Wont Reach Whole Network

Any idea why my TV wont see any media server?

I have a Samsung LE40C580 connected to my network. To make it a little easier I've set up the network manually, so I know which IP it is (we have quite a few devices on our home network)

The media server machine can ping the TV no problem. I have Serviio AND now Mezzmo on the file server, but the TV doesn't find any media servers at all. I've tested the connection from the TV and it passes.

I have another Samsung downstairs which can see 3 media servers.

To get from the media server to the TV it goes through 3 switches, could it be something odd with it being too many?

I had an Xbox connected before, which used to see the Serviio, but stopped seeing it at some point (not sure when, I really didn't use it much) and I thought it was an Xbox problem, which was part of the reason for a new DLNA TV.

Anyone with any ideas please?

they need to be on the same network. Also the UDP multicast has a certain time-to-live number, which is basically number how many switches it can go through (by default 4 I think). I'd check firewall on the machine with Serviio, it needs to have UDP 1900 and TCP 8895 ports open (check for Windows firewall and any additional antiviruses etc)

It turns out, its the switch!

I put the old (slower) switch in its place and everything works again. Very odd... don't buy Tendra...

I got it a month or so back, to get my whole home network up to Gigabit.

You would have thought you could trust such a well known brand
