Samsung BD-J5500/xa half my folders are empty??

Hi,

I'm hoping someone could help me with my issue, I have searched the forums and found similar issues BUT none of the solutions helped.

I have a new Samsung Blu-ray player which I specifically purchased for it's DLNA capabilities... Problem is, half of my media is not shown when browsing my hosted Serviio solution.
It brings in every folder just fine, but strangely enough only half the folders actually show any files inside - I am obviously browsing through the "Folder" presentation option...
I have the following folder examples: Movies, Series, Anime, Dump, etc. Now Movies (and every sub-directory) displays every file perfectly, as does anime BUT my Series and Dump folders only show directories and sub-directories of which each and every one is completely empty! Not one single file...
I started on Serviio 1.5.2 - tried both Generic and the nearest matching H-series Samsung profile, then upgraded to the newly released Serviio 1.6 and tried both Generic and the correct J-series Samsung profiles. All give the exact same result.
During the upgrade I also removed every source, checked every folder's permissions and re-added the source paths into the new version from scratch.

I have 2 Xbox 360's, a PS3, an LG and a Samsung TV connected as well as 2 Phones and a tablet (via ServiiGo app), these all display ALL media files perfectly in the menu's, even under the Generic profile (though they do require the correct device specific profile to actually play some file types correctly).

Please help.

I was thinking about getting this Samsung to replace my old Sony Blu-Ray player (BDP-3200). Maybe not. Let us know if you get this resolved. What kind of files *do* end up showing up? Does it have to do with file-type or is it seemingly random?

seems random, I took 1 video to test and copied it to each folder... displayed only in the folders that had files already in and other folders remained empty.
BUT I did manage to solve the issue now... it IS definitely a profile issue?! (which makes no sense to me as even on "Generic" as I mentioned my other devices work fine on, it does the same thing.) That being said, I started running through each and every profile supplied in 1.6 (yes I'm that desperate) and what do you know... Roku Media Player profile WORKS. It lists AND streams all files perfectly with ZERO transcoding needed!!!!

I hope this helps anyone else experiencing the same issues.

I have had better success with Sony BD players compared to Samsung. The Samsung H model I have (but not using) would play everything, but would not decode the HD audio on my Blu-Ray rips. They would always display in my AVR as standard DD or DTS. With my older Sony players, but MasterAudio and TrueHD would be sent through. With my latest Sony MasterAudio is passed through but TrueHD is not. I've complained to Sony, but so far there's been no firmware updates to fix it. Hasn't been any firmware updates since I bought it quite a while ago, come to think of it!
