Can't stream between my SmartTV and my Toshiba Laptop.

Hello,

I have a Samsung SmartTV, model UN32J5205, and a Toshiba Satellite Laptop, model C655-S5231. Both are connected to a TP-Link router, model TL-WR841ND. I can connect my Smartphone to my TV with the screen mirroring function but I can't connect my laptop to my TV. I installed Serviio, the service starts and it seems to be working fine but I can't see my TV listed in the Serviio console.

I tried with Windows 7 Professional and Windows 10 Professional. In both cases, the result was the same.

I really appreciate any help with this problem.

Regards.

To follow up with what Zip posted: laptops usually have two network devices. One is for Wi-Fi and one is for an Ethernet connection (assuming your laptop has both). Sometimes there's a Bluetooth module, and that will appear as a third networking device. If Serviio is trying to use one and the computer is connected to the other, that would be one explanation. The other, as the post covers, is ensuring the Windows Firewall (or if you are using another form of firewall) has the correct ports opened for Serviio. Check these two areas, then let us know.
