Samsung TV/Serviio Sound problem

HeyHo
I have a problem with my DLNA Streaming System.
I have a Serviio Server that streams all the movies via Gigabyte Ethernet to my Samsung Smart TV (UE48H). The Samsung Smart TV is connected with a Yamaha rx v 475 via an optical Audio cable. The Serviio Audio Settings are set to keep the original Sound of the Movie. And the audio output of the Samsung TV ist configured to Stream PCM to the Yamaha avr. Furthermore i selected the Samsung H Series as the transcoding Profile for Serviio.
The problem that I have is that every Audio Signal that reaches the avr is only Stereo although most of the movies have a proper 5.1 Audio stream. I guess that it might be the Samsung TV which is downmixing the audio signal. I've googled the Problem and noticed that this problem is known by a few other People. But they can't figure out a proper Solution.
Do you have any idea how to solve this problem?
Greetings

Many TVs will not send 5.1 sound out the optical cable from a non-TV source. This means that a Smart TV with its own apps (such as Netflix) will send 5.1 out the audio. But other apps, and external devices plugged into the TV will only send PCM stereo.

Now, my JU will send 5.1 audio out from the DLNA, but I've seen other models and brands that won't. Check your TV audio settings again and see if there's a bitstream out option, rather than PCM. If mine is set to PCM, I also only get stereo.

HeyHo
Thank you for your quick answer... I have this options in my Audio settings: PCM, DTS, DTS 2:5 and DD. The thing is that depending on the incoming Stream not all of them are available available. Only PCM is available in with every Stream.
Which one is the best to select and which one is created by the Samsung TV in an "artificial" way?!

Samsung handles audio very poorly. I too have issues with it not switching correctly between DD and DTS, and it often defaults back to PCM. As I mentioned, PCM only comes out in 2 channel stereo. They need a true bitstream option that completely ignores what the incoming audio stream is and just send it through as a raw bitstream to the AVR. Other brands seem to be able to do it, but not Samsung.

I don't want my TV doing anything to the audio. Just pass it through!

I think we have a small misunderstanding ;)
DD and DTS works as a path through as well or does the TV Change the audio Signal if I select one of those.

The Definition of true Bitstream is not clear for me :)

The TV is supposed to recognize DD or DTS and automatically send it out via bitstream, without altering the stream. If you select PCM or DTS 2:5, the TV modifies the audio stream. What I mean by true bitstream is that it completely ignores what the audio stream is and just send it back out via ARC or the optical connection. But the Samsung doesn't have that option.

On my TV, the audio menu has two separate submenus to choose the audio processing. One has the choices you list (PCM, DD, etc.), while the other shows bitstream and other options (not at home so can't remember exactly what it has). However, both submenus should have the option to select bitstream, which would tell the TV to ignore whatever is contained in the audio stream and send it out. When the TV detects there is an AVR connected, this should be the default. If the sound is going to the TV speakers, then the internal processing is necessary, since the TV does not contain 5.1 speakers (only stereo).

And yes, the TV will alter the audio signal based on the selection you make in that particular submenu. When bitstream is selected in the other menu, it should send them through without altering. However, I have seen many times that the TV changes itself to PCM, which decodes everything to 2 channel stereo.

HeyHo,
so my Samsung TV doesn't has a bitstream option for the audio out signal. But i think i can avoid the issue if i use my Playstation 4 as the dlna client. I've already tested it. I set DTS (bitstream) as the audio output format. Well it works! ;) But now i have another problem. A lot of my movies were recorded with a TechniSat Receiver and afterwards saved in a *.TS file. But the Playstation 4 with the Playstation 4 Profile which is selected in the Serviio Server Console is not able to play the file/movie. I've read about different issues with the ps4 profile and a lot of testing and profile information but i haven't found anything about the described problem. I'll post a detailed serviio log later so you maybe can help me to figure out the problem.
Thanks for all the help!

PS: Should i post this in the Sony section?

I#ve edited the other post and added a part of the log text. I hope it is the right one.
Just a guess: Maybe the error occurs because the files end with *.TS . I have other ones which are ending with *.ts and they are working/playing fine?!

That is also my solution, to use my Sony BD player instead of the Samsung client. :D

I'm not familiar at all with the PS4, so can't offer any suggestions there.

Okay :D
Do you know someone who is familiar with the ps4? Otherwise i would just post this issue in the Sony section again. Or can someone move it?!
Furthermore i tried to do the ffmpeg.exe -i command but i got this massage back:
  Code:

I changed the name of the file because it obviously has a problem with the "ö" :D The next result was:

Is your E: drive mapped to another computer, or is it a local drive? In theory a mapped drive could have a permissions issue, but since you're running it from your user account that shouldn't be an issue.

I notice that you aren't showing the full file name, so that could be an issue. Remember that by default Windows hides the file extension of known types (which I can't stand), so there should be a file extension on the file name when you use ffmpeg. I don't know if it's MPG or TS or MKV or whatever, but I'm pretty sure that ffmpeg needs the complete name.

Edit: And yes it is a local hard drive. The problem was that I only listed the folder but not the specific file with its extension ;)
