MKV (wrapped DVD and others)

I used MakeMKV to wrap some DVD9s I have to avoid the VOB-splits situation. This works well and the MKV contains all the audio and whatnot. While all this plays just fine in the VOB it doesnt in the MKV.

This is the file info:

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

C:\Documents and Settings\admin>cd K:\Movies\English\James Bond\Ultimate Collect
ion DVD9

C:\Documents and Settings\admin>cd k:

The file contains the following:

Video: Codec MPEG-1/2 Video (mpgv)
Resolution: 720x576
Refreshrate: 25

Audio

Stream 1
Codec: A52 Audio (aka AC3) (a52)
Chanels: 3F2R/LFE
48000 Hz
Bitrate: 448 kb/s

Stream 1
Codec: DTS Audio (dts)
3/2+1
Chanels: 6
48000 Hz

would it be possible to play the file like this or is there a better converter for DVDs around that keeps all audio streams?

Also I have troubles playing a bunch of MKVs with the following encoding:

Thanks for any help & pointers!

Not sure Samsung (and Sony too) support Mpeg2 video wrapped into MKV container (M2TS, TS, ok)...to be confirm.
For Sony device neither Divx (Xvid), MPEG2, only AVC into MKV container

Re: MKV (wrapped DVD and others)

further info: the MKVs with XVID/DIVX video encoding play fine when i rewrap them into an avi (no re-encoding done). so this issue can be solved but of course a way to play them as MKV would be preferred.

further info on the wrapped DVD MKVs: might it be possible that the DTS audio stream is to blame? It seems not to cause any trouble when played from the VOBs but I think i read in the forums that DTS audio is causing problems for the MKV container.

Compatibility table for Samsung C-series TV:
http://i.piccy.info/i5/50/79/1377950/tetetet.gif
so yes, samsung TVs don't support MPEG2 wrapped in MKV neither DTS wrapped in mkv.

Re: MKV (wrapped DVD and others)

Hi,

do you have this list for the D-series? Just in case they differ. So the solution would be to change the DVD to a TS-File right?

PJusa
PS (.mpg, .vob) or TS (.ts) container.
I didn't saw anywhere a compatibility table specially for D-series, I think its no different from C-series table at all.
