Slow loading Samsung D8000

Hello,

I am using Serviio in combination with my new Samsung UE46D8000 to watch movies etc.
The problem is that when I want to watch a movie on my TV, accessing it thru the shared folder, it's real slow in loading.
The movie starts and after 5 seconds it stops and starts loading. After 10 seconds of loading the movie continues for 5 seconds and it start loading again.
Just like your watching YouTube on a real slow internet connection, it keeps pausing and buffering.

I am using Windows 7 on a self-build pc meant for high end gaming. My pc is connected to my router via cable and the TV is wireless.
The router i'm using is the Linksys E3000 High Performance Wireless-N router.

I've tried running several movie formats like .mkv, .avi, .mpeg etc. but they are all buggy and lagging.

Does anyone have any ideas or advice what I can try and do to watch movies normally, without lagging?

Thanks in advance!

Ok bought a cable and tried it that way and it worked perfectly.
So I assume the problem is somewhere in my wireless network , am I right?

Is there anything I could do to solve this, maybe open a port or something?

Thanks in advance!

you could try changing wireless channel number on your router, it's possible that you're using the same as your neighbours and it gets high traffic

I tried every channel I could find, even 2,4ghz and 5ghz, but the loading lag is still sticking around...
Anymore I could try lol?

From page 28 of the user guide for your router.

  Code:
QoS (Quality of Service)
Wireless
WMM Support Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM) is a wireless
Quality of Service feature that improves quality for audio,
video, and voice applications by prioritizing wireless
traffic. To use this feature, the wireless client devices in
your network must support Wireless WMM. If you would
like to disable this feature, select Disabled. Otherwise,
keep the default, Enabled

If you enable this and select video and change it to high, it might help with your problem.

Mark, thanks for your response :)
I enabled the WMM but it didn't solve the problem. Still very slow loading.

Is it possible that my router isn't able to stream HD/3D videos at such distance? Since it's quite a long way from
the router to the TV, about 20 meters with walls etc. in between.

That is very possible. You should wire it up or look at some quality HomePlug adaptors.

Does your TV show what your signal strength is? I have found that freq. 2.4 has the longest range of the 2 freqs.

Can you export your router settings to a file and post it? Some can and some cannot.

Check your TV for firmware update and what kind of wireless card is in it.

I assume that you are using the LinkStickā„¢ adapter WIS09ABGN. If so that is probably your problem. Do a search online for the adapter and you will found out that they have a very low rating.

  Code:
Summary: If you really want to connect internet to TV simply run an ethernet connection. Even a 50 foot cable cost 20 bucks and you'll eliminate hassel of linking, slow speed and unreliability of the Samsung WIS09ABGN LinkStick

You might want to look at other solutions to get your signal there. I use a bridged setup myself at home with "N" wireless, I have not tried to stream Hi-def on it yet. Another solution would be a Ethernet over Power setup.

The wireless signal strenght is constantly at 4 or 5 bars, 5 being maximum.

I don't believe I can. I can't find it anywhere in my router.

Check your TV for firmware update and what kind of wireless card is in it.
The TV is fully up-to-date firmware-wise. What kind of wireless card is in it I can't seem to find.
The manual and support just say Built-in WiFi, no detailed description of it.

As for the other options to get the signal at the TV, I haven't really got networking experience. I know what a bridge is but
don't know how to make one. Putting a wire in between might also be a challenge. As I said before
it's quite a long distance and the TV is a living-room, hallway and bedroom away.

I just find it real annoying that a high-end pc, a good router made for high-end gaming etc. and a new TV aren't able to make
it all work in sync.

Thanks for all the help/ideas so far and I'm open for more ;)

Can you make sure the model number of the TV, I cannot find the one you posted on Samsung website. the only 46" Series 8000 I could find did not have built-in wireless.

i would not recommend either of these as they can be as unreliable as wireless.

My two cents.

i have 2 samsung TVs myself one wire one wireless ( netgear router ) and i have no issues with lag at all, so mayeb try another router as linksys is a budget brand router and may not be man enough for the task.

but to be very honest nothing beats good old RJ45 (network cable) direct to each device from your router. :)

I agree with Cerberus. Although I have a HomePlug (200Mbit) to get the network to my bedroom tv and (at least SD) is streaming happily with it.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions!

Laying down a cable isn't really an option so I guess a new router is the way to go.
I have no idea what's the best option but it needs to be high preformance and fast.

I have looked around and found these 3 babies:
Netgear WNDR4000 http://netgear.com/home/products/wirelessrouters/high-performance/WNDR4000.aspx
Belkin N750 DB http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=543388
Linksys E4200 http://www.linksysbycisco.com/NL/nl/products/E4200

Can these do the trick? Which might be the best for my situation?
Or do you know any router that can handle the task aswell?

Thanks!

Netgear all the way i have one and works flawlessly to 4 devices all at the same time. i have 2 connected wireless and 3 connected wired to this router and all work with out any issues. no static ips required or any other special setup, works straight out of the box.( well u do have to plug it in i guess  ) :)

Hi @ all

I have a brand new Samsung UE55D7000 (it's the same like the 8000 but no metallic frame).
My WLAN connection works fine with all kind of media. I use a expensive phone/lan/wlan router that I got from my
cable provider (AVM fritz!box 7270 (yes a funny name) - a german vendor http://www.avm.de)

The router shows a max 54 Mbit WLAN connection to my TV and my BD-D6900 (both with build in WLAN). Channel is #1.

Plz check if possible the average WLAN-connection-speed between router and TV. Sometimes a little movement
of the router helps.

I appologize for my bad english.

54 Mbit WLAN connection <--- way to slow for streaming media.

The netgear i talk about about has 300Mbit wireless lan and as for fritz!box be an " exxpensive " router it so is not is cheap and nasty generic thing that some european ISP sell to ther customers abit like the BT homehub rubbish.

I've been trying to sort out my PC > TV streaming for a couple of months now. A lot of 720p stuff was stuttering via Allshare, no chance with anything higher. I thought it was a problem with my old modem/router and just took the plunge and got a new Billion modem/router. After spending all evening setting it up media was still stuttering.

Then I found the problem.

One of the posts above states '54mbps' - note, this is not the modem/router but the speed of SAMSUNG'S WIRELESS DONGLE.

Unless there is a faster dongle don't even bother trying to stream HD stuff to the tv over wireless.

I can't run wires in my house so I think im gonna take the new modem/router back and try a ethernet over power setup. Wish me luck! :)
