Serviio

Hi folks,

i have a very strange problem (and little helpful information to identify the cause =( ):

I got a Samsung UE40C6000.
My serviio 0.5.2 worked fine for weeks. Everything played nicely, navigation was fine, metadata and thumbnails, everything worked. (Love it. Great work guys!)

Suddenly (yesterday) everything stopped working correctly. Not a single movie file is played anymore. Everytime i try to play something, one of 2 things happen:
- After "loading" the file, the tv displays the message "not supported file format" (even though it played the files 2 days ago perfectly fine)
- It just keeps on "loading", nothing happens, TV doesnt react to remote anymore. Gotta pull the plug.

Another thing i perceived is that some of the thumbnails are not displayed anymore while browsing, (but which thumbnails are not displayed changes everytime i reopen the folder). Also browsing is a lot slower than before.
Also, when starting the serviio service, and the TV detects it, it used to display the serviio icon. Now it just displays the default dlna server icon the tv provides.

Log file does not indicate anything is wrong. I even reinstalled and set everything up from scratch, tried smaller library, nothing helps.
TV had a Firmware upgrade a couple of weeks ago, but everything worked fine after that.
(Coincidentally, i also reinstalled my windows yesterday - after the problem started - and set EVERYTHING up from scratch. Not even that helped)

How i see it, this is a very strange behaviour and i know theres not a lot of info to go on, but perhaps someone can help.

Hm after further investigation, it seems something is wrong with my TV. Streaming to my Samsung Phone works fine.
Also, when i do network test on my tv, it fails like 50% of the time. However, switching the cable and doing a factory reset did nothing =/
Anyways, doesnt seem to be a serviio problem.
Damn.

How are you connected to your TV? wirelessly or wired?

check your router is not failing before assuming it the Tv, as routers are 80% of most network related issues

Actually I'm facing the same problem since 21st July. All mp4 and mkv files suddenly failed to play on my Samsung TV (UA40D5000PR) when connected to Serviio. I did a firmware upgrade and it is still not working. As the poster, I uninstalled Serviio and start from small library (only 1 mk4 file which was working previously) and it still fail to play. Btw, all mkv files when streamed to my Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy S II from Serviio fail to play since the beginning, but not the TV.

I tried copying the same file to a USB flash drive and plug it into the TV and it plays fine. I then installed Samsung AllShare and stream the same mkv file to the TV and it also plays fine.

So, is it the TV, Serviio, or the tools used by Serviio that cause the problem?

PLease post your serviio.log file. Make sure that the correct profile is selected for your TV. Alot of TV and BD players use dynamic ip addresses. We recommend placing your computer running serviio and the DLAN renders on static IP addresses.

id like to see a DETAILED log file before you try as moltra suggested just to try and get a handle on exactly whats happening here and can you post some information on the pc runing serviio, what connection your using (wired/wifi) and the make and model of the router and any other devices connect to your network.

I have the exact same symptoms on a Samsung UN46ES6500 TV
I had an UN46D6400 before that had screen problems and got replaced, these problem occurred on my old samsung too...

It's still happening, serviio runs fine for 2-3 days, then it suddently stops working, it shows as a generic DNLA device on the TV, if i open it, file/folder browsing is VERY slow, if i try to open an file, it says "not supported file format".

The strangest thing is:
* If i restart the serviio service (via services.msc), it don't fix the problem
* If i restart the service inside serviio, no deal.
* If i reboot the computer, IT WORKS AGAIN.


I'm using the lastest serviio version, 1.2.1
Java version 7 Update 17
Windows 7 64 bits
TV profile inside serviio is defined as "Samsung TV / Player (C/D/E series)"
TV has static IP
computer has dynamic IP (i will try static)


When i see it happening again, i will make sure to take prints and get logs.

Hi all!

I think I have a related problem. I start serviio (1.1, 1.2, 1.2.1) on my server and I can play perfectly on my samsung tv. After a random interval (usually hours/days) the TV cannot find Serviio anymore under the available sources. From the host PC if i try to stop/restart from services.msc, the operation fails miserably (stay on stopping but does not shut down or timeout). I can see the serviio console and both service processes still running but there's no way to open the console and even the system tray icon disappears.

Server: Win Server 2008 r2, Static IP, Java 1.7.0_05, 2 NIC (lan+wan. Serviio bound to LAN ip)
TV: UE32D5000, DHCP but with long leases, TV Profile "Samsung TV / Player (C/D/E series)"

The only solution I came out with is to restart the computer.

not seeing much, did you enable detailed logging?
