Recommended profile for UE50TU7092UXXH

Hello,

I just bought a new Samsung Smart TV - UE50TU7092UXXH
The first problems I noticed - no DTS Audio support and no external subtitles.
I fiddled with the profiles and the one for B-Series seems to do the right thing for the problematic files but also affects some of the ones that worked with the generic profile.
Can anyone make a recommandation for a profile, or the minimal settings needed just for these two problems I mentioned?

Re: Recommended profile for UE50TU7092UXXH

The NU profile is the newest one for a Samsung. I wrote it about a year ago, but ended up giving the TV to my daughter because it's HDR performance was terrible. Much happier with my LG.

Almost no TV supports DTS audio, so virtually any TV profile should transcode it to AC3. If the Samsung NU profile doesn't work well, you might try the Roku 4K TV profile. It might transcode a bit more than necessary (Roku has limited codec and container support), but it will transcode DTS to AC3.

For external subtitle files, my luck is hit or miss about them ever working on any player. No idea if it's something within the file, or if Serviio isn't playing well with them. I only have a few titles without captions, and few of those have SRT files. And knowing how terrible Samsung does with their DLNA support, it might simply be the TV. TV manufacturers often list support for external media, but it doesn't always apply to media streaming via DLNA. Something may work fine if connected to the TV's USB port, but not work at all via DLNA. And there's really no way to determine what a TV will or won't do without simply trying it. Their documentation is usually what I would consider a joke when it comes to media playback.

Turns out it works fine with the NU profile.
I just had to eliminate Transoding for h.265 because it's not needed, I haven't encountered it combination with DTS audio.

Re: Recommended profile for UE50TU7092UXXH

There are only two Matches lines with H.265, and they are specific to Dolby TrueHD or DTS MA audio codecs. Beyond that, those Matches lines shouldn't affect any other media. So it should work just fine as is. But if they resolved your issue, that's all that matters. I might suggest creating a user-profiles.xml file and save your modified profile with a different name. That way when Serviio is updated your changes are not deleted.
