Resume video

I got a Samsung QE43QN90DATXXU last October and it has been pretty much flawless with Serviio, the TV did a firmware update and now no video will resume, I was using the N profile and I have tried a couple of others and it is still the same, the NU profile starts every video at 55mins which is really odd.
Any ideas how to get the video resume back without shelling out for another media box to plugin?

My honest suggestion is to get a Fire TV or even an inexpensive Android based media player and forget the Samsung player. The user interface is terrible (and always has been). I wrote the JU profile more than 10 years ago and the NU profile about 4 years ago (no longer have either TV). You can get Android based players for as low as $25.
The Samsung player UI is completely lacking any information about the media other than the title and the image art, file size and maybe playing time (going from memory here). Even a basic Android player using Kodi as the media player app provides far more info, larger images, and can play far more media without requiring transcoding than the Samsung player can.
My complaints about the Samsung UI is the same for LG, Panasonic, and most other Smart TVs. It's not specifically a Samsung problem. I've never owned a TV with the Android/Google TV interface, so I can't say for certain how good/bad they might be.

The interface and player were functional enough for my needs and the box serviio runs on has power to spare to transcode if needed, I guess another box and another remote might just have to be the way forward for the sake of getting the feature back.
