Well, I'm just trying to learn and match my experience with my D series devices to the various infos posted on the forum. There seems to be a lot of misinfo and its hard to filter the wheat from the chaff. Since this thread was opened by a D series user with playback issues, and I believe all the following remain "open" issues with D series DLNA, I think it is appropriate to continue to address them here rather than open new threads for each of them.
i didnt need them to confirm it worked i already KNOW it work as i have a C series BD player.
Ok, but its always nice to see a confirmation of any users suggestion. I'm always suspicious when a suggestion is made to fix a problem but its validity is not confirmed by a second party even if the suggester believes that the fix worked for him. Didn't mean it as an insult.
I can report that the removal of that profile line does nothing to help a D series
erm yes it stop the directory browsing issue that causes D series to kick you back to main menu.
I've never had a problem being kicked back to the main menu. I've looked in the forum and have not found a reference to this problem, so I'm unable to test/verify what you suggest, but I'd like to learn more. Can you point me? I'm also concerned that removal of these lines will negate their purpose that zip described as "The DeviceDescription block makes Serviio pretend it's the Samsung Server - to enable better integration (e.g. subtitles menu, resume function, Video Samsung menu maps to Serviio Video menu). Perhaps you could explain why their removal will not impact that integration.
D series BR player does not have the Blue button support for Resume that the C series player have. (The D series TV does correctly support the D button Resume function).
D button and blue button are the same thing, so that stement was incorrect.
I think you misread. Here's an expanded statement which will clarify.
"D series BR player does not have the Blue (D) button support for Resume that the C series player have. (The D series TV does correctly support the Blue (D) button Resume function)."
I'd also point out that the Samsung All-Share supports Resume on the TV but it does not support it on the BR, which I see as further support that the Blue (D) button Resume Support has been removed on the D series. Regardless, as you suggest we will take this to the Beta forum to see if you can help create a D series profile that will enable the "Blue(D) button" Resume on BR Players.
I can also confirm as posted earlier that the D series (both TV and BR) does not offer a skip option for MPEG-2(VOB) files which was the original posters problem.
VOB cant be skipped correct but that doesnt mean ALL mpeg2 wont skip
I'll stick by my statement, since I have been unable to find any MPEG-2 video file for which the Samsung D Series (both TV and BR) will display the skip option, including those that are transcoded by Servio to MPEG-2. See the previous thread on MPEG-2 Skipping and D series transcoding.
http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2714I'd be delighted if you can add your knowledge to this and point me to one that will skip, and how to transcode so that the resulting files will skip.
I can also confirm that the D series BR does support a skip option for all other file types, however holding the direction buttons down only jumps in 10 second steps whereas holding the direction buttons down on the TV results in an accelerated step size.
yep thats correct and the same as the C series devices.
We agree
I can also report that the D series BR does not support Blue button menu sorting as does the D series TV, however attempting to use that function on the D series with Servio, locks up the TV requiring a power down.
This function is only for USB played files on both C and D series , There is clearly a bug in the TV firmware of the D series and thats why it crashes the TV.
I cannot agree with your contention that there is a firmware bug since the sort function works correctly on the D Series TV when displaying menus over DLNA using Samsung's All-Share software. It only hangs the menu when using Serviio. I believe I need to report this as a Serviio bug. What's your advice?
I hope you will continue to work with me to resolve these D series DLNA playback issues.
