device serviio closes after few seconds

Hi:
Thanks for reading my question.
I have a samsung BD-D6500 Blu-ray player and am disappointed with the samsung pc share manager software, mainly because synching files om my computer takes half a day and lots of folders are missing when viewd through the blu-ray. So when I read about serviio I downloaded en installed the latest version on my windows7-64 computer. The connection between computer and samsung is wireless, but seems ok because internet works fine and the samsung share manager can be connected the same wasy. Alas: I cannot get serviio running.
The server sees the player and profiled it as an unrecognized device, so I changed that into Samsung TV-player (C/D-series).
The Samsung sees the server, but when I browse through the folders I get a popup saying the device serviio was closed down (literally in Dutch: apparaat afgesloten). At first I thought it could be that the maps weren't yet synched, but now, half a day later, that should be ok (though I cannot seem to find where on the console that is shown). I also tried shutting down de samsung pc share manager server, fearing perhaps using more than one server on the same computer might be a problem, but that didn't help at all.
Of course I read the faq, but coudn't find something resembling my problem. Hope anyone here can help me out. Perhaps it is something stupid I miss, but would be grateful for any help.

Read the Serviio.log to see if there is any error message.

Thanks for answering. I scanned the log and see two types of entries: WARN and INFO.
WARNings are about flacfiles where serviio cannot read the metadata. INFO entries are about additions to the library and about starting the server.
No errors as far as I can see.

Enable DEBUG mode in log and check then.
http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=7Also, connect the TV to the router by cable and check how it operates then. Wireless without proper configuration sometimes causes a lot of problems.
Good luck!

I already had the log set into debug mode. I will try cable, but at the same time wonder if another router would be helpful. I am running a relatively old linksys G modem now and wonder if stepping up to a N router might make a difference in stabiility and performance. I don't like the cable as a definitive solution. Any ideas on that?

Antennas in USB wi-fi adapters are rather weak. I would check signal strength near player. Also wireless G is enough to stream SD media and at rare cases 720p media (from my experience). Also there can be different router options related. For example for my old D-link router I had to disable multicast streams for it to work properly because it would kick me from serviio randomly even after playing movie for an hour. But it took a lot of testing and playing with different router settings to achieve the desired result. Now I use linksys routers (because I can use custom firmware like tomato). These routers with tomatousb firmware perform very well and I seem to not have any issues. One thing I noticed is that signal strength behind the TV is very weak and therefore is very unreliable for media streaming.
I hope You have time for testing, it takes a lot of time and nerves.

Anyways, You have to be sure that everything is fine on cable connection to rule out other issues.

Thanks for taking the time for helping me. II had a chance to upgrade my linksys G router to a N router (The Linksys E1000). I haven't had enough time to do decent testing, mainly because setting up this new router took me a little longer than expected. Cisco had changes the setup software. Only today I have it running the way I like, laptop and wireless printer are connected and function fully. It seems that the Samsung PC share manager now is more stable though terribly slow with synchronizing and other dlna servers (apart from serviio I also tried tversity) still disconnect and are unable to stream any audio or video, though the error messages differ (tversity tells me that none of the formats are supported and serviio disconnects). All servers are running on my PC though. I need to find some time to do some serious and structural testing and perhaps buy a long cat 5 cable to try the wired solution.
I'll keep you informed. Thanks again.
