Serviio disconnects after a few minutes

Not sure exactly where the problem is, but i was hoping someone from the Forum can help.

This problem started to occur a few weeks ago (before I made the upgrade to 6.0.1)...

For the past few months, Serviio has been working great with my Samsung Smart TV (D7000), but recently (starting about a week ago), after a few minutes of watching content on my Samsung Smart TV through Serviio, we noticed that it would randomly disconnect after a few minutes. Then a few minutes later, it would reconnect, and we would continue watching and then it would go out again.

It's obviously grown more annoying, and I'm not sure why all of a sudden it disconnects after a few minutes of use.

I removed it and downloaded the new version of Serviio, hoping it would correct the problem, but even with the new version, it does the same thing.

Any advice on tricks/things to try to correct it would much very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: FYI - I use Serviio for Mac

Installed Serviio and it worked great for a while. then it occasionally disconnected. now it doesnt show up at all. uninstalled from mac and reinstalled latest version.
it showed up on the tv once and worked fine for 10 minutes before disconnecting and now doesn't show up as a source.
helllppp!

If you are on wireless it could be a break in transmission due to interference like wireless phones, causing the TV to loose sight of the server and then reconnect.

the tv is connected via wireless, however I also watch netflix through smart hub and never seem to get any interruption. wireless signal strength seems good on tv.......
serviio is not even showing up as a source currently.

I had the same problem with my Samsung D6500 blu-ray player.

I use a wired connection.

I set my IP address for the blu-ray player to always get the same IP number. I did this by going into the routers web page and made DHCP always give the same address to the player. I also manually set the Bound IP Address on the serviio console to be the IP of my PC.

I haven't had any disconnects since.

yep thats the best solution and FYI that called setting a prefered network address :) so basicly your address is still assigned by the DHCP server but you have told the server that this device likes this address so can it have it everytime it connects please. :)

same here... wifi apps working, it's something to do with all-share/serviio.

Can you please elaborate on this process?

I know how to access the routers web page; and have thus enabled DHCP server and set my TV(device) IP Address (as shown in serviio console) as a Static DNS.

"set the Bound IP Address on the serviio console to be the IP of PC"
I did this in Serviio, Is this something that also needs to be added as a Static DNS?

For the past two days I have gotten no connectivity (display message "device not connected").

Even with doing the above steps, it doesn't seem to work.

Thanks again for the assistance.

Static DNS and prefered DNS are completely different and are often confused :) but yer i can talk you though it BUT i need your exact make and model of router as annoyingly everyone is different.

It seems that Serviio with the D series allshare will keep DHCP settings which are outdated in the database and not remove them automatically. Seems that D series firmware does not send a renderer friendly name so what happens to me is that I get more than one profile DHCP address saved in the consoles renderer profiles.

My solution was to manually assign a setting other than generic to the address that the renderer currently has. As you can see the addresses 192.168.1.102 and 192.168.1.104 are from the same device...my series D allshare bd player.

Cerberus is absolutely correct. Setting a manual permanent assigned address for the specific device is the best solution, as I suspect the device identification method used by series D allshares is the problem. I have no problem at all with the series C tv as you can see ...it is properly identified by Serviio, Serviio will recognize it and use the right profile for it because it is recognized as a Samsung DTV DMR and receives the correct profile for the device.

With most routers it is possible to set aside some of the DHCP 192.168.X.XXX.X addresses and assign them to specific devices if your router supports DLNA device recognition like mine does. In fact some routers primary dhcp address show up in Serviio console..as mine does here as 192.168.1.101 the default address for my linksys n wireless. I can set my router the way Cerberus suggests and it is fairly easy. So if your wireless router shows up in the Serviio console as a DLNA capable device I am certain that you can easily accomplish the changes.

Even if the device does not have a friendly dlna name it is still possible to find the mac address of the Samsung device ...it should show up as a device somewhere, including the router network interface...... regardless... If all else fails there should be a sticker on the tv or player!

Hope this helps

we need a detailed log of the server starting. It should show Http headers the player uses when talking to Serviio and we can then add those to the profile for automatic detection.

Here it is, just wish I could understand what is going on and help by trimming it down because this log is like some out here in BC Canada.

In this log, first the D series should show up as a generic, then after resetting the profile to my custom one and listening to an ogg stream, then a shutdown. I did not bother to call net streaming video with the D series as I know it does nothing yet...at least with the latest firmware release of this D series Allshare.

Also the C series tv is in there at the same time but I did not make any calls from the C series to Serviio just the D series player.
The C Series TV works great...with the default Samsung C/D profile.

I cleaned out the old logs first and did it from a cold start. The log is huge considering..

It's this:

  Code:
2011-12-15 04:40:34,220 DEBUG [RendererManager] Looking for a renderer profile for Http headers: [HOST: 192.168.1.101:8895,USER-AGENT: SEC_HHP_[BD]D5300/1.0,ACCEPT-LANGUAGE: en-us]

Btw, as you're on 0.6.1, make sure this IP address doesn't have generic profile assigned to it in the console.

looks like you'll have to update the C/D profile user agent detection to this:

  Code:
(.*SEC_HHP_BD-[CD].*)|(.*SEC_HHP_\[(HT|BD)\][CD].*)

Thanks Zip. Might this change also work for the Samsung DTV DMR D Series...if so then most likely the last firmware update has the same headers for both players and TVs? The update was done just last week. Hopefully this cures some of the file format not recognised blues as well 8-) As the formats are essentially the same for the C and D series except D series can do more high def formats..it is documented in the device manual and the firmware has no opensource components it is pure Java.
So any hope of Samsung ever supporting flac and ogg natively just evaporated

Most likely not, they are even using different detection methods.

Guess this goes beyond the scope of this thread but I am a bit curious about how these guys are now making their devices invisible to the competition and DLNA servers like Serviio. Now that they are no longer running Busy-Box and just are called Java powered devices....

So from what is happening I would guess there would have to be calls made to a new compiled library/class that could parse the binary info and then turn it back into xml for Serviio to set in the device identity field for the console and the device data base.

Will the UUID that shows up with Intel tools help at all or is it just a unit specific identity not a universal identity for all D series devices? If this is the case then there would definitely need to be calls made to os specific libraries or more simply in java... if this is in the sdk http://docs.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/ap ... /UUID.html ...

I would guess that you already know this, but a different method for setting profiles for devices that have unique identifiers might just be possible ..but it would require input from the user as it might be very difficult to correctly code for all the possible combinations of device specific IDs and the associated profiles.xml extensions that will be necessary as the manufactures release more and more devices with unique identification IDs!

<humor>interesting as to who's java compiled kernel for the "java" firmware they are using hmmmm. Definitely not a Dalvik wonder if I can Google it for an answer </humor>

Just as a suggestion.. This might work.

Perhaps in future Serviio can include a small device configuration GUI that the user can input friendly names into fields and also set the profile... if UUID is used for identifying the device like a mac address identifies a wifi or ethernet chip then this identity will be constant on reboot regardless of which dhcp has been assigned. Same idea as using an alias for a stream url.

Just my two cents but to me it makes sense :)

Hi

I am using Series A, 46", Samsung TV with Samsung BD-D5300 DVD player, and Samsung wireless adapter, and all across a Linksys wireless router. Smart Hub works fine, I can run movie trailers, Youtube stuff , without any problem.
However, when I try to access my Movies Folder, I can see it, open it, and select a movie, but then the connection appears to drop. Even when I am looking at the main menu, with My Devices, Serviio appears for a moment then drops, from the list of devices??

Any suggestions?
