Folder Contents Invisible

Hi there, I have a Samsung PS59D8000 and am running Serviio 0.6.1 and have been sharing files across my wireless N network with no issues for some time. I am running Window 7 Ultimate 64 bit and do not have Homegroup shared libraries turned on and have uninstalled WMP.

None of the folders that are working and shared via Serviio are shared in Windows - they don't need to be.

I have multiple folders on several drives on my PC shared and they all work fine, however when I add a new shared folder via Serviio, I can see the folder on my TV, but the contents are not visible. The new folders are being created in the root directly of the drive, just like the other folders that work.

The new folders are on the same drives as other shared and working folders and the Windows share settings are the same (ie not turned on).

What am I doing wrong?

the folders most likely dont have access for the user running the serviio service (SYSTEM)

I don't remember having to mess with anything like that when I got the other folders working.

I think I must have fluked it the first time and now can't remember what I did right ....

Where should I be looking? Folder Properties, System Settings, Network? :?

PS I am the only user on the PC.

Folder properties, Tab Security. Compare it with the folders that work.

No joy, all the same and I am sure I did not have to set any of those for the folders that already work.

The files that are not visible are in fact visible in the other older folders.

This is really doing my head in!

How can I have it working on existing folders and then add a new folder to the same drive and it be visible on my TV, but the contents not (and the same contents are visible in the other folders)!!

I sussed that out and they are the same in the working and non working folders.

I believe the issue to be elsewhere.

You can try changing the user the Serviio service runs under (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ts ... 0709062339), check the Log On tab and change it to your current user.

I am the only user on the PC and I have admin rights.

None of these additional things were needed to get the other folders working. I simply created the folder, added files and then added the folder to Serviio.

I can see the new folders, just not the contents .... :?:

PS In case I had forgotten to mention it, I have rebooted the PC several times after added folders and files and restarted my TV as well.

Well, it is related to access rights. If you don't want to try things we're proposing then there is no help I guess.

My apologies, I may have come off dismissive in my earlier post. It was not my intention.

I have now tried as suggested and gone into the system props and changed the user and restarted the service and there is no change, unfortunately.

Again, I am sorry for not sounding more appreciative of your assistance offered.
