Hi Zip and moderators,

Hi again, with many thanks for creating the best media server in the world.

I have a video file that plays with no issues in windows media player or any player but does NOT PLAY at all using Serviio and my Samsung TV. Serviio attempts to load but the TV reports "Unsupported File Format" (cant remember the exact wording) and does not play.

My TV is:

Samsung B Series: LA40B750U1F
Profile Used: Samsung TV (B-series)
Metadata: Read from XBMC nfo files (no internet metadata)

Any help is appreciated

this could be cause by the profile level bug that i think has now been fixed for the 0.6.2 release due anyday.

MIght be due to the HE AAC audio. Or something related to the file's encoding settings.

I've got the same problem. A Samsung series B TV and an "new" mp4 file that will not play. (works well on the PC though)
Video AVC
Audio AAC
I'm hoping for the 0.6.2 release.

Anyhow, thanks for a great program.

The fact it plays on PC has absolutely no relevance other than the file is not completely broken. The codec stack installed on the TV is different than the one on your PC so each device has different way to decode the file. Obviously the TV fails.

This combo of codec is usually supported and you'll have to reencode it to lay on the tv. I have a file like that from time to time as well... those are the joys of digital media :-)

Hi,

I'm having the same problem.
DLing an MP4 fil but won'tplay on my series 7 samsung TV - the on files I can get to work are .avi
Can you advise what you mean by 'reencode it to lay on the tv.''? with avi files I just go in via DLNA on the TV and it plays fine but these are getting harder & harder to come by.

Thanks in advance for your help - I'm not very technical (fyi using a macbook pro)
