I can stream video fine but I get the above error when i access my photos folder. When i play the folder as a slideshow it will show some pictures then show the above message? The images are standard jpgs taken from my camera.
Any ideas?
I am using the c/d profile.

no idea without alot more information, you will more than likely find its a corrupt jpg causing your issue.

no actually it very common they will play fine on a pc but wont work with serviio as device/program that made them create malformed headers.

I've been trying to see if there is a pattern and i've noticed Serviio will not play images which have been taken on my camera in a vertical position. My camera is a compact digital canon and i think this is the problem when a picture is taken holding the camera in a vertical position Serviio has trouble with it. This seems like a bug to me. All pictures which have been taken in a the normal horizontal position are fine.

Thanks for the info great help.
I think my problem is i just copy my photos from my memory card to my server. I think yhe best option is to do this via some software as this will retain the correct metadata.

I had the same problem on my Samsung D6500 - also with pictures from a Canon camera, interestingly. Pics with vertical orientation, i.e. +/-90° rotation in the EXIF data, did not display, instead I got an error message. I don't think I have corrupt EXIF data, I use the Canon software for transfer; besides, using AllShare the photos worked on the TV - but I don't want to use AllShare

.
Well, after messing around a bit it seems I found a fix for this in Serviio, although I have not tested thoroughly if it affects other functions.
I changed the <AutomaticImageRotation> option in profiles.xml from true to false. After a restart of the Serviio server the pictures worked just fine. Rotation by 90° still worked, the images displayed in correct orientation, so I have no idea what that option actually did...
If anybody knows some functionality this could break, please tell me. I will test that a bit myself. Hope that helps other users with the same problem!

All that setting does is enable or disable serviio from rotating the photo automatically. If you can find a picture that works with that disabled but errors out with it enabled, can you post the metadata for the pic?

some renderders rotate the images themselves based on the EXIF data, it's possible the D series devices can do that

Thanks. This solved the problem for me too. I faced the error message on my UE46D8005 with vertical orientation JPGs shot whit a Sony camera.

To resolve this is issue I removed my images then transferred them back. It was a bit of a pain but I ended up copying each picture folder onto a usb stick then deleting the original folder on my server. Then when I plugged in the usb stick in the my machine I chose the option to import the pics via the windows built in software. This worked fine and I also clicked the option to rotate the images on import, this is a great option as this means when viewing the images in Serviio or any other software the images which were taken in portrait are viewable in portrait and therefore require no rotating.

I finally had the time to test this some more.
With the default setting (AutomaticImageRotation = true), NONE of the images from my Canon EOS 500D which had a rotation 'tag' in the EXIF data (+90° or -90°) was displayed on the TV, instead I got the 'file format not supported' error msg. Thinking it could have something to do with the color space I tested sRGB and Adobe RGB, both didn't work. Same goes for transfer with Canon native software or just copying from the SD card.
Images which were SAVED in portrait after transferring them to the PC DID work, so the format itself is definitely not the problem. I guess that's the reason why importing the images with Windows works, the rotation tag is probably taken out of the EXIF data and the image is saved vertically - on a side note, I believe this leads to some loss of quality, I don't think Windows does lossless JPEG rotation; better use IrfanView or something for that if you really need to.
Anyway, after changing the rotation option for my TV model in profiles.xml to 'false' the same pictures worked, in fact all pictures with orientation tag now work.
If some more people could test that on C- and D-Series, maybe in the next version the profiles.xml file could be modified accordingly.

JPEGs from my Nikon D70 work now with autorotation "false" on a Samsung UE40D7090. Great workaround!

I am using the c/d profile.
I had same problem too with my Samsung TV (TV LED 32" UE32C6510UP). I do 2 resets of Smart HUB. First don't work for reason unknown (no error messages on Tv). With second reset I got able to see correctly pictures and they galleries on Tv.
Let me know if this suggest will fix your problem.
