3D .MKV files on Serviio

I was wondering if this was possible, I know I can play 3D .MKV files in Serviio on my Samsung TV, but the question is: If I had a 3D tv and played this 3D .MKV file to my tv with Seriio and put it 3D mode and used the glasses would it work to play in 3D mode?

Has anyone tried this yet? I can't because I don't have a 3D tv, but thinking of getting one in the future.

Thanks

I have done it and it works beautifully. My Samsung TV (and I would guess all Samsung 3D models) has an option to render 3D from either side-by-side or top-bottom video.

So with the glasses it does the 3D effect as good as playing a Blue Ray DVD? Or is it that simulated 3D setting of making anything 2 into so called 3D because I have the 3D .MKV of Avatar and it's the side by side version, so if I play this on a 3D TV and turn on the 3D mode it will play it as good?

Thanks

Yes the 3D will play as 3D same as BR. You can also use 2D->3D mode to play all your other 2D files in simulated 3D mode. You can also add subtitles to the 3D movie if you are streaming to the TV, but if you stream to a "Smart" BluRay player using the TV as the monitor, the subtitles will not be right, because the TV does not know it is a 3D file as it would if it were rendering the stream.
